my budget for my current engine rebuild has spiraled massively out of control (its complicated) but im now left with 4 pistons in their liners. Obviously it would be a wasted excercise refitting the pistons/liners without checking the condition of the rings, but my question is...

can i get away with refitting the pistons with the old rings (assuming the rings are good) and a quick glaze busting session on the bores?

Many thanks in advance.

Well yeah, it'll work, but there's a list of but's, if's and and's... depends how much of a cheapskate you want to be

well like i said, i've already spent far much more than i originally planned, mainly due to my indecision. Mi16 piston rings are the best part of £100, if i can get away without needing new ones then that'll help me greatly.

Cheers, Ben

But will £100 now save you having to start all over again when something goes wrong, if your way over budget go for a record!!
