Hi all .. hope someone might be able to help.

I need to get hold of some unleaded fuel proof Loctite/similar for securing bolts into a threaded flange on a fuel tank. I've looked through the Loctite website but they don't seem to want to advertise this product even though I'm sure if anyone makes such stuff it must surely be them?

If anyone has any ideas for suitable alternatives please let me know .. must be fuel proof not just resistant for a short time span. I've contacted the person I bought the tank off but thought I'd throw it open to the PH massive aswell.

many thanks in advance for any help.

Try this page:

www.loctite.com/int_henkel/loctite_us/binarydata/pdf/LT3770v2_ThreadSealants.pdf

It looks as though Loctite PST 565 thread sealant might be what you are looking for.

Right, just made some phone calls to the company I used to work at, they put me through to the Loctite technical helpline (01442 278100 incase you need them again) and the gent there suggested Loctite 243 which once cured is unleaded resistant.

Cheers!!!

One thing to note on that 545 sealant, some of the blurb refers to being diesel fuel resistant, but it won't necessarily be unleaded resistant. 100R6 hose is diesel (and AVTUR) resistant, in fact it was what I used on all the olive green gensets I used to design becasue it remained "supple" at -45oC, however 100R6 is not longterm unleaded proof, you need to use BS/AU/108 type hose.
