All I hear about Bacci Romano is not usually good.
For this kind of work someone capable and on your own doorstep sounds like just what you need.
Thats not the first negative I have heard about Bacci, and they have all been from different countries, so maybe one to steer clear of.For this kind of work someone capable and on your own doorstep sounds like just what you need.
Definately local is preferable, its much easier to sort things out face to face than by email or phone...

They're very good you'll have to wait and see.
I managed to get a copy of the article e-mailed to me last week and its a great write up, not a bad video clip either Ok Back to the real world - I need to sort the gearbox & the budget I had planned for the sequential box isnt available anymore, so I have had to look at other solutions, which has lead me to one of the earlier suggested gearboxes the E153 from the MR2. From what I have found out, it should handle the power, if fitted with an after market diff. If I can fit it with a 10mm adapter plate, then the input shaft should still be long enough to engage in my clutch plates. That together with the MR" gear lever and cables and either driveshaft flange adaptors or new shafts should sort the problem.... Of course when I get a box I am sure there will be other issues that need to be addressed.......

pretty coolCar is now in pieces again for the installation of the MR2 Box.
Looks like it should fit OK.
Engine and box trial fitted together...
This is only roughly fitted by me to see if it will go in the car. If it works I will get the adapter plate professionally made.
The exhaust and turbo fit around the box as well, apart from fouling the MR2 starter boss on the bell housing, but this can be "trimmed down"
Trial fitting the engine into the Car, had the diff foulingthe chassis, but moving the engine 25mm to the right will give me sufficient clearance. I may also have to move it 5mm fwd, but that can wait until it is confirmed that the adapter plate can be made.
So all in all not to bad, some new engine mounts are easy enough to make, and I have some ideas for the gear linkage.
The MR2 box looks stronger, as it is more chunky and the input shaft is bigger as well as the drive shaft splines being bigger, so it should be upto the job.
No doubt there will be some other issues along the way, but the first thing is to get the adapter plate made up.
