Better than good !What sort of boost are you looking to run ? Is that the only type of chargecooler you have room for ?
As for the Charge cooler, there is very little room for an air/air unit in the back of a stratos, so water/ air cooling it had to be - there is a huge pre rad up front & the guys at PWR assure me it will work. Their assurance is based on running a similar set up on a rear engined race car with 500BHP, I have the same charge cooler, but a bigger pre-rad. Again I wont know until it runs, if it isnt a success, then its back to PWR to come up with a solution.....
Next is to groove the adaptors on the head to fit an o-ring seal instead of the paper gasket...
Here is a test i made on a spare inlet adapter..
An o-ring in there should hold the boost without any trouble.
Also the new stainless pipes were not beaded (no beader at OJZ as he normally only does exhausts)
I got myself a beader yesterday & did a test bead on one of the inlet runners - Considering the tool isnt supposed to do stainless, it worked well....

Phil,
The tool was from Viper Performance - the silicone hose guys. They say it only does alloy, but it managed ok on stainless - i just took it easy.
The roller is 16mm, so minimum size is 16mm bore & it will do upto 100mm pipe. Even more if you adapted the mounting plate......
Cheers

Once I get the car finished ......... It will be out & about - cant say where or when yet though.
I am hoping to get it on the road for next summer, so it wont be at Stoneleigh next year, but it will be somewhere I can post where & when once its up and running.
I Just hope it dosent dissappoint when you see it.
Cheers

Thread started 5 years ago....
Wow is it really 5 years since i started this thread!!!!!The car is being preped for paint now - then I wil be away at work for a while, but after that its just a case of building the engine and putting the car back together so next sumer should be up and running
Ok so spent the day at vibration free yesterday - very intresting to watch the balancing process.
The rods & pistons were not too bad, the rods being 2.1grm out and pistons 1.2g out, but they are now all the same.
The engine was then built up and run on the vibration bench, this resulted in 4.5 gram being removed from the flywheel & 38grm being added to the crank pulley in order to reduce the vibration to effectivly nothing.
The crank pulley was from a different variant of the engine, so no surprise that it needed a big adjustment.
Here is the engine in the process of being balanced.

Back to the bodywork now as the car is off to th epaint shop in a week!

Just found this thread, very cool project, very noce engine, i owned a 156 GTA and the noise it made with a supersorint exhaust was to die for! I was going to suggest the nobles ford V6, more than a handful now with 600 bhp and my one will be finished next week with about 550bhp. Can't wait to drive it!
G
The Engines are great - Hopefully this one will keep the "noise" even with the turbo - the noble V6 I did consider, but in the end the pull of keeping an itarian engine in an Italian styled Car won!G
Been doing a bit of painting of the chassis ready to send the car off to have the body work painted next week, so while watching paint dry I have revisited the Steering wheel.
Mada a Spacer so i can keep the centre horn push with the Quick release boss & made up an alloy plate to hold 6 wheel switches..
At The moment I have switches for.
Launch Control
Map Select
Tacho Display Select
Data Logging
Flat Shift on/off
And a spare - not sure what to use that for, but no doubt somthing will crop up when I get the car on the road.

surely that spare one will be for the anti-chav lasers ??? ;-)
(or judging by the probably performance with 500bhp, maybe you'll need some sort of anti-scamera "cloaking" device ??)
It has been suggested that I should save it for the future when I fit NOS - No current plans for that, but who knows(or judging by the probably performance with 500bhp, maybe you'll need some sort of anti-scamera "cloaking" device ??)
The Cloaking device could be a good idea though!
The car is now away at the paint shop, so been playing with the dash - I had planned to have it Yellow to match the paint on the car, but that was just too much
So my second plan was to make a carbon dash, but the company selling the blanks have no stock & no plans to produce any more
Option 3 was to cover the dash - I have covered it with real carbon flexible sheet, with 3m adhesive on the back. Its not as good as the real thing, but looks pretty good

Painting Is going well, seeing as it wasnt scheduled to start until next week!
Everything stripped off the car. Main tub, nose section, doors, boot etc. all primed. Guide coat now being applied to ensure no high spots when rubbing down for next stage.
Spoilers & lamp pod now being prepared for initial primer. Then rear body section.
Cheers

......What's the plans for IVA and registration...
Quite a bit required...The switches on the steering wheel and the wheel itself will fail on sharp edges as will parts of the dash. Not wanting to be a killjoy but these thing need that planning.
Steve
Small snag I am abroad for work until November
I'll post photos of the paint when its done
cheers
