Anyone know anyone capable of doing this, without going daft on prices ( I'll pay a fair price of course )

Mine are an adapted US set, 1 3/4"

Id like them to be 1 7/8", and in stainless.

I cannot offer the car to them though, only the manifolds themselves. And space is damn tight in a couple of areas.

Hayward & Scott in Basildon, Essex are very good. A friend travelled from Yorkshire to get his manifold made there

Most decent exhaust system fabricators will insist on having the car there - you simply can't guarantee accuracy or clearances otherwise.

I used to use Tony Law in Leeds, but he would only work in mild steel and would definitely insist on having the car trailered to him to ensure correct alignment.

yes - Hayward and scott are highly reccomended by me too - their work is 1st class - they only work in stainless - most of it is TIG welded to very high standards, I dare say if you send them your cuurrent mainfolds they will make a jig from them and replicate the inlet and outlet positions exactly.......I would also send them some photographs of the exhausts when fitted in the car - as this will allow them to eyeball the tight areas.

last time I was there they had a GT40 in for work....so I naturally assumed it was a kit-car.....so I ask "which kit is it then"......the reply "its an original mate - ex racer from the 60's with FIA papers - owned by a certain Mr Bamford" who owns a little digger company called JCB.....it was worth an arm and leg......this is the level of work the they do. their web site has some pretty horny stuff on too.......but dont be afraid price is not expensive, but its not cheap either.

I've considered this too but wouldn't even hazard a guess as to where to start, so what would be the Ball park figure for say a 4 pot 4-2-1 manifold (x 2 for a V8 ) would it be £100-200-300-400-500.

I had a honda blackbird bike engine in the back of a vandiemen formula renault, it was a real tightly packaged exhaust, as it was right in the middle of the car up against the fuel tank, for a 4-2-1 system they charged me about £600, it was a work of art and I was more than happy to pay that ammount for a fine job.......so about double for a V8

when I gave them the car I also gave them mock-up photos of how I wanted the exhaust to look, I got some plastic flexi tubing to replicate the pipe angles and general layout......a picture says a thousand words.......give them as much information as possible, you know what you want, but they wont......hence you have to be very specific......especially as they wont have the car.......bottom line is plenty of mock-up photos.

Im aware of that, but it just isnt possible for me to bring the car over for it to happen. Well I could, but its a trip that would be asking for trouble, and only add to costs I think, as it would mean days off work, trip to England etc etc

With an appropriate jig, it shouldnt be a huge job, as its really only the RHS that is space critical.

Im aware of Hayward and Scott, and they do good work. Just curious about other options.
I'll give a couple of them a call tomorrow or next week.

If I had tbe patience, and access to the materials, I could do a cut n shut set myself. I had to butcher the current ones anyway to make them fit. So it isnt that difficult. Just time consuming.

If spending a few quid on it, I want a proper set of mandrel bent pipes, and in the diameter I want. Nobody over here can do that....and even if they had some equipment, they wouldnt have the ability to do a job to the standard I'd want.

If you fabricated the jig yourself, including extra bits which represent tight or critical areas - they might be more ameanable.
Anyways - you have your own tiggy now - whats stopping you?

Simple, I cant be arsed !!!!

As I said, Id prefer 1 piece mandrel bent tubes. Smooth, and no internal damage ( welds ) to impede flow.

One thing Ive noticed with the Tig, when welding pipes together, it seems to be more intrusive than the Mig. Although thats probably my fault lol.

seriously try www.ojzengineering.co.uk this is exactly what they specialise in. they've got state of the art mandrel benders and cnc plasma cutters for flanges and alike.

they made these for us.

Sure was Slinky......

Excellent workmanship, and fast turnaround. I'd defo reccomend them.

Exhausts made in the UK by a company OJZ Engineering.

New collector

New left 2" header

New right side header. I think plug changes on cyl 6 and 8 are going to be a nightmare here...... I had to make new leads and re-route them. Space is tight though, so cant be helped.

Very nice looking headers there, I assume they are bespoke, how much if you don't mind me asking ears.
Did you design it yourself or did they confused

Price was into 4 figures...

I sent them my old headers to use as mock ups for the new ones. Ideally they would have wanted the car there, but that just wasnt practical, so this was the only option.

Right hand side did require some alterations, but generally speaking for first time out was pretty damn good, and better than expected. Space for my right header is extremely tight, but they did a very good job.

The only one downside, is ground clearance is reduced due to the larger diameter pipes used. Bit of a no win situation there though.

Harry, OJZ will work with you to design pretty much anything you want... Lance is a VERY busy man these days, but his work is fantastic!
