Just wondered if you have ever come across any golfs with idling problems, i have got one at the minute that will not idle at all.
I have checked the usual things air leaks, pipes etc..it seems to have a built in idle control valve within the throttle housing. Its a golf 1.4 16v y reg.
Any ideas?

Is it spotless, the butterfly i mean, its very important even where the butterfly seats, this engine as a really poor breather system.

I removed the throttle housing today and gave it a good clean, i was just wondering if you have to re adapt the throttle butterfly like on the seats.

if it had one it might be !!!!

sorry about the late reply been working late

as that daddy correctly says make sure it's all spotless and if the tickover is too high or too low when you've finished then it will need readapting to the ECU with a scanner (obviously the scanner must be able to do this function - not all can) takes about five minutes to do - where are you located?
