The Clutch in my mates Westfield can't take the pain. Ford Type 9 gearbox & 1.6 CVH. Engine is tuned to 140BHP at wheels! Original Sierra clutch has given up after about 500 miles.
Anyone know if the Cosworth Sierra clutch will go straight in? Any other ideas?
Thanks

I would have thought it would be a different flywheel to start with.

How about a Helix or AP clutch instead? May make it a little heavy and a little less progressive but may work out cheaper than trying to get a cosworth setup on it.

The Type 9 and Cosworth (Borg Warner) T5 both have 1" 23 spline input shaft so the discs are same drive, the Cosworth clutch is 242mm Dia. Don't know what your using though. 500 miles! in such a light car! What happened, or did he glaze it?

Chris.

The car originaly had just 80 Horses at the wheels! I would guess that its glazed now.
I expect that the clutch in it would be standard 1.6 Sierra whatever that is. I was thinking about the Cosworth Sierra clutch as I can get a standard one from Halfords for less than £200 if it would fit. A speical AP or similar competion clutch would be £250+ & may not be as strong.

Id be 99% sure a Cossie clutch will not fit. At least not a simple bolt on job.

Why wouldnt you just opt for a direct replacement uprated clutch from Helix or AP or similar ??

Will give it a try. The car is light so maybe it will be enough. Cheers.
