Exhaust manifold length advice
Discussion
Hi, I need a bit of advice. I have a Scimitar with a mildly tuned Essex
engine, stage 2 heads, cam etc + 38 dgas.
I also have 2 sets of s/s exhaust manifolds, One with appx 12" of extention from the cylinder head to the 3 into 1 junction. And I have a set of s/s manifolds with over 24" extention before the 3 into 1 junction.
My question is, would they both do the same job or does each set have individual performance characteristics regarding BHP/Torque?

Have look at this recent thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
without wanting to turn this thread into another hand-bags session.......experience has taught me, get the Primary pipe OD correct and sorting the lenghts after is no problem......but if you fall into the bigger is better trap and specify a set of big-bore drain-pipes style exhaust manifold......forget it.....you will be pissing in the wind.....the attached thread will be a good guide for this!
if you have a mildly tuned essex V6 I'm estimating you have about 200bhp-ish.....therefore thats 200 divide6 = 33bhp per cylinder......I'd go for about 1-1/4" OD primary pipes in 16gauge tube.
