Fuelling Issues - Please help i need the thing 2moz!

Went to go out in mk2 Golf GTI 16v today and it wouldnt start! The fuel pump isnt priming when u turn on the ignition. However the fuel pump works fine when run off of a seperate battery i discovered. Did this tother week then sorted its self out for some reason!? All the fuses are fine bar some white stuff around the number 18 so have filled that with wd40 now!

Also when the 4 pin plug for the fuel pump was put onto a tester lamp it was hardly showing up at all - is that normal?

Just tried a knew relay and tht didnt work either so am at a loss now! Please help!!!!!!!

i'd try running a new wire to the pump sound like a break ????

sound like you just need a new pump relay. get them at car shops.... for about £20
they take an impulse from the ignition circuit to trigger the pump.
normal relay is no good.
