Recently picked up an 94 E34 525i with M50TU engine, nice bit of kit but with a wee problem!
Basically, most of the time the car requires a good 5 secs of turning over and pumping the pedal to fire up, at this stage the idle hunts quite a bit and requires the throttle to be blipped for anouther 10 secs before moving off (especially when cold). At this stage its liable to stall when manovering, pulling out of junction etc, however when the engine is warm it will generally idle quite evenly, if at a slightly high rpm.
When driving it will move along fine but i feel its a good bit down on power for something with 192horse when new! The revs dont seem to spin up as freely as i would expect, with quite a big flat spot at 3-4k revs but it takes off like a scalded cat from 5-6k!!
Now, my problem is that its not throwing up any codes, so im a little stumped!
Its had a new ICV fitted before i bought it, new air filter aswell.
Am i correct to suspect MAF or fuel filter, any ideas on my next step please!!
