Vauxhall Agila Oil Pressure Light On

69K miles Vaxhall Agila, Z12XE 1.2litre 16v
Oil Pressure warning light on, admittedly low oil level, but immediately topped up to full mark on stick when light showed.
On restart shows good pressure for about 30 seconds and then oil pressure light shows again.
It's too dark outside to start crawling around under the car tonight so has anyone got any suggestions ?
I guess the pressure switch in the block has crapped out or the leads are off or fractured.
Or maybe the pump pick-up is blinded by debris sucked up because of low oil level.
Finally perhaps an oil gallery has blocked up.
Any pointers gratefully received, especially if this is a known generic problem with this engine or sensor.
