CV Joint/Driveshaft failure? (video)
Discussion
Sounds like you've got one or more worn CV joints that need replacing. They should be replaced as a pair, and if they're all original they'll all have similar amounts of wear and it wouldn't be a bad idea to get them all done. It had to happen sooner or later and quite possibly nothing to do with the new CV boots. Anyway, not expensive and I suggest you just get it fixed and get on enjoying the car.

Will it just be the outers that are worn or will the inners be stuffed as well? If the inners need replacing then it will mean two new driveshafts, about £150 each if I remember...
Inners and outers on each side invariably go together. No need to replace the half shafts (unless/until you break one), the CV joints don't cost much and are easily replaced. From your symptoms it sounds as if both sides have gone, in any case at that mileage I'd be inclined to get them all done for peace of mind. Before they start taking things apart, get an expert to listen to it in case it's something completely different, for example a bearing in the diff. Mr2Mike said:

In the last 20 odd years of driving, I can't remember ever having to replace an inner joint, but have replaced numerous outers. The inners get an easy life as they work under much reduced angles.dern said:

Surely by definition they run at the same angle.I have heard of people damaging driveshafts when driving on very warn CV joints, but I doubt that has happened to you.
I would swap the outer joint (make sure you get the ties on propperly or the boot will leak) and see if it fixes it.
