I'd appreciate some advice please. I have a LR90 2.5td (1987) with 144k miles which coughs a bit of white smoke - I think from just one cylinder - on tick over.

I've bought a set of re-con injectors - not yet fitted - and hope this will solve the problem(?)

If the new injectors don't solve the problem, is there anything else I could try as I need to get it MOT'd. I don't have the money or time for a re-build or a Tdi conversion.

They all cough a bit of white smoke on start up anyway, but because its smoking a little doesnt mean it will fail its MOT. Unless the tester cant breathe!

Ah... forgot to mention it does seem to clear itself quite quickly on a run. But leave it for 5 minutes and start up again and hey presto!

How about running some of that injector cleaner through it?

I have tried that - albeit some time ago - and I didn't really notice any benefit. I think I'll check each injector, try to find if that could be the source of the problem and at least change that one injector.

My missus in on my case to get rid of it because apparently it's an eyesore - some people have no taste!!

Many thanks for your advice Smokin.

Yep just been there, done that! I did have a few too many vehicles (9) and the last straw was when a gypsy knocked on my door (when i was out)and spoke to my missus about wanting to purchase some of them! Bloody cheek! Now down to 6 vehicles, but still looking just in case.
