VW 1.4 TSI Oil Consumption
Discussion
Another crazy experience come out today from an Italian GTI's owner and he is not the only one...
I'll translate with Google the entire message below.
Engine replaced, same problems
Re: GTI - Oil consumption

After more than 1 year, now I think I can write some objective consideration.
My GTI has always had an oil consumption of about 1 liter every 1200 km.
After several checks, weighing, etc. .. is about 6000 km I replaced the engine.
I was hoping to go well, but it did not happen. Currently, consumption and are almost identical at an altitude of 18,000 km.
I'm sorry if you have a new engine or replaced, from what I read and from my own experience, there is no current solution and not even know what to do. Shameful!
In part goes down, surely there are some engines that have an acceptable oil consumption or limit dell'accettabile. Then subrentrano driving conditions, I noticed that when using city and short distances, consumption remains high. With the new engine, after the first 1200 km (and a topping of 1kg!), I then traveled about 3800 km before needing to add another kg of oil. Kilometers traveled mostly on the motorway and long journeys.
Then definitely the type of use influence consumption. Another strange thing already said, is that you can travel hundreds of miles without the level drops a lot, then suddenly ounces of oil are burned in just about anything.
The fact is that we have a car that goes to the mixture and that the parent is not able to solve this malfunction.
My heart breaks, because performances of the engine are a masterpiece, as well as the Dsg.
Among all the gallons of oil made at my expense, mileage and time lost to checks and inspections and the car stopped about 10 days (without replacement vehicle) there is something to be really disappointed and angry!
Now starts the usual rigmarole of checking the consumption, then weighing, etc. .. but to what end? To change again the engine??

This is the answer that VW International gave me about my concernings on my 1.4 TSI expressed on FB.
I suggest everybody who have oil consumption problem to write at the email adress below, we are doing the same in Italy...
Hello Max, in this case we recommend to get in touch with Volkswagen headquarter's customer service via kundenbetreuung@volkswagen.de by stating your name and details as well as your vehicle identification number and your request. The customer service department is where all issues are collected and solved. We wish you all the best.
Here the first result from another user: Wolfsburg
I also received an answer by email after my segnalation directly from them.
They will probably adress the issue to your local customer service, but the ticket will be opened directly by the headquarter : this is something more than nothing...

I'm told from my Skoda dealer that Skoda have issued a list of potential Vin No.on their vRS'S which may have problem,so I would assume that VW have also issued the same withe Polo gti.
THEY TOO ARE ALSO GOING THROUGH THE OIL CONSUMPTION TESTING AT THEIR DEALERSHIPS,BUT ONLY AT THE REQUEST OF THE CUTOMER.nOT VERY PROACTIVE!!

LETS GET A LIST OF AFFECTED Vin No.VEHICLES so that we can built a picture. This needs presenting to VW GROUP!Customer pressure group needs to put pressure on VW to recall or get a proper engineering solution to this high oil consumption. DESIGN/ OR MANUFACTURING Problem?
I've had my Bocanegra about 3 months now. When I collected it from the dealer it had an oil change a few days before. Checked the level and it was at the top of dipstick.
Since I've had it and put some 2500 odd miles on it I've noticed its been drinking oil. Used about 4/5ths of the hatched area on the dipstick.
Anyone have an idea as to how much oil it would take from the bottom of the dipstick hatched area to the top?

Hi All,
Was there ever any resolution to this topic?
Having just bought a new Polo GTi I am now a little concerned that I have bought a white elephant
Paul
I don't believe there is a definitive conclusion but the general concenus seems to be the newer cars are less/ not affectedWas there ever any resolution to this topic?

Mines on a 61 plate, and has covered 23k miles since new, and mine used a liter in the 1st 2500 miles, then another liter after another 4000 miles, and after that oil usage has been minimal.
I really enjoy driving my car everyday, its sad that guys like huwp got the bunch of duds that came out the factory first, because they really are good little cars that surprise alot of bigger cars on the road !

Ive come to the conclusion the VW and audi arent what they used to be an very much living on past reputation I was very disapointed with my last caddy and the cost new just isnt worth the extra, I see fords as a good bet for value and quality ...
Fords don't offer value or quality. They're usually more expensive than a VW and feel cheap inside.
(The current Mondeo is the exception - it's still far too pricey for what you get, but the quality is much improved, but still not quite up to Passat standards)
I just wish I had a TDI not a TSI.
Premium brands = Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Volvo etc.

Several years ago my wife bought a new car. Her usage was 2x 7 miles on weekdays through slow town traffic with occasional journeys up to 20 miles. It used a lot of oil.
Then I borrowed it for several very long, fast, motorway journeys and it hasn't required topping up between annual services since.
