Hello,

just a bit bored and thought some of you engine boffs might be able to enlighten me.....

My kit car runs a tuned X-Flow of which I am quite familiar with.
I needed to do a sensible journey this weekend and borrowed a friends Ford Ka - I lifted the bonnet to make sure all was in order before setting off and noticed that the engine showed a remarkable resemblence to my X-flow, even down to the rocker cover!
How tied in history are these two engines- do they have common liniage? Jsut wondering as I know the Endura engine is a old pushrod style so design is ancient....how differnet are the two engines, exluding electronice and fuel injection etc.

Cheers, my pondering is over now!! Really should do some work!

depending on the age of the Ka, and i'm guessing it's more than a year old.

it's the SAME basic engine.

The X flow as you call it has evolved over the years,

X flow, was given the name KENT by ford all those years ago, that was changed to Valencia, but again it got dropped for HCS (high compression swirl) when it went over to ESC electonic ignition systems and then it was dropped finally for endura-E.

over the years it's been adapted and tweaked and lasted the test of time quite well.

hope that helped.
