A petrol Macan would be the best drive by some distance.

But it's small (we weny Cayenne > Macan and then back to Cayenne).

New Cayenne?

Have only driven the Macan on a couple of extended test drives. Nice car, drives similar to many Porsche's I have owned. Depending on the size of your dog; it doesn't have a big boot & with sloping roof it wasn't good for our dogs. Don't like the look of the F-Pace & haven't seen the Maserati in the flesh. If a mid sized SUV is what you are after I would probably go for wither GLC AMG 43 or Macan. For a larger dog hauler I would go either Disco (good deals on Disco 4 or go for the all new one coming out) or Cayenne. All down to personal choice.

It might count for nil (I've yet to drive a Levante) but it gets a savaging in What Car this month. Thrashed by the Macan in a head to head test and awarded just two-stars. eek

I have never driven an F Pace or Mecan

I own a Levante Sport and so far iiam very impressed, it's lovely .

50/50 weight distribution, luxurious interior, countless positive comments and you won't see many on the road,

I really don't care what the mags think of it, only 2 weeks ago it won a test vrs the F Pace and the X5, it's about what I think of itt

Must say I'm not into SUV's but this thing definitely sparked my attention! Seems to outshine the Levante both in how it looks and at least on paper the performance too, until Maserati give the UK a proper engine at least.

Anyone know when the Stelvio will come to the UK?

NarrinRad, What colour/interior did you go for? I've sat in a couple but not driven one, to be fair those I know who have were all impressed, for me it felt very familiar knowing Ghibli/QP's very well.

Out of interest at what point did you order, did you see the car before depositing? I understand the car got alot of interest but low % depositors initially, following a showing at Goodwood and a couple of Italian cars touring the UK dealers the order books filled very quickly!

I believe petrol is coming to the UK Levante for MY18.

I understand that the order book is pretty normal. There are very few cars these days that you need to wait more than a few months for.

Yes I believe you are correct.

A full order book doesn't necessarily mean oversubscription, just that production is in line with the demand.
With Maserati's production capabilities now I wouldn't expect any current model to have long waiting lists, perhaps that will change slightly when Alfieri and the eventual GT replacement come along.

It's great for the brand that Levante exists and the fact that it is getting good reviews helps too! I am interested in the new GranTurismo - mine's getting old - but what I find strange is that they have stopped making it with no sign of a new one and the factory at Modena surely can't be busy enough just building the 4C? All very strange...

The GranTurismo is such a great car, the fact they managed to extend its production life for so long is testament to that!
The replacement has such alot to live up to and I think that may play a part in the current strategy for the replacement, internally it has been delayed several times and was due long before Levante and Alfieri.
Which GT version do you have?

I've got a GTS Auto. It's a great, easy cruiser in normal auto and a bit of fun (and loud) in sport manual. I love the linear throttle action of the n/a engine even though it is now a bit slow. Takes the kids too! Not an easy car to replace. The shame is that they have stopped making it without bringing out a replacement...very odd.

They factory is probably busy tooling up for the Alfieri?

But no mules spotted. I would like to think that you are right but I doubt it. There was a rumour of a run out Gran Turismo special for the US so that could be coming.

Nice, love the MCS but the GTS Auto is the best of the range in the real world!
Only thing they never quite addressed for me was they always felt under braked for such a big car, I exclude the Stradale from that.

I agree but the GTS brakes better than the GT due to bigger discs/callipers on the front. The 4200 was much worse mind with very early cut in ABS and a back end that went very light under braking.

Having done a lot of research on the GTS and coming quite close to buying one, I came to the conclusion that stopping power is sufficient but it suffers from early onset fading due to the weight of the thing. Better pads and braking fluid and SS braided lines would probably be sufficient to make it adequate.

It's fine for the road. My factory discs/pads lasted 35k miles but it does weigh 1880kg. Lots of car sales have that problem mind!

Spec is the following,

Black metallic ( green fleck )
Extended soft deep red leather
Harmon Karmon stereo ( sound very good )
Black stitching including head rests
Pimp Windows
Heated seats
Heated steering wheel ( better than you think )
You get a lot with the Sport anyway

It was all planned, I traded in my Centennial Stradale in July, that was my 2nd GT, knowing that the Levante would be available Nov/Dec . I've never had a 4x4 and really liked the pictures and what I saw. It is light years ahead in terms of material quality to the GT .

I have had a deposit on the Alfreri for at least 2 plus years now, that's the one iam waiting on, info on that is sketchy to say the least, I don't even think even Maserati know when it will be released, their comms are awful

As I mentioned earlier, I couldn't give a monkeys if the Levante loses or wins, for me it's a great car that gets better every time I drive it, the most they will bring to the UK is 1000 a year, the Diesel is super smooth, no clatter and quite a raspy exhaust sound in Sport mode, if you want the petrol engine the price will go up st least another £7-8k, when it finally comes over.

I understand the dealers are under direction not to advertise it currently, except for those boring adverts on Classic FM, but hey....I could be wrong.

You can get some very good deals on the GT now for stock cars.
