Two Classic Maserati's at Silverstone's Auctions last weekend . Not the prettiest of styles but great value for a hand built classic Maserati.
1972 Mexico 4.7 V8 , manual, Says 17,000 miles from new, £150,000 restoration with with 3 files with 250 pages and a 1,000 photo,s
Think it went up to around £90k not sold, Has a buy it now price of £115,000,

Second one is the stunning Vignale Spyder, 3500 GT, twin plug head 6 cyl, 3 Spanish owners for 58 years , In silver blue with red interior,
Looks like something straight out of the 60's film, La Doice Vita .
Think it fetched around £385,000 unsold but not sure about that. Buy it now for £550,000,

Wonder how many millions that would be if it had a Ferrari badge on it.

Still don't know how to link ,so if someone got the time or the inclination they can be found on

Silverstones NEC Classic Live Auction Results , Saterday ,14th November 2020, Lot No's 456 and 472.

PS, I have no connection with Silverstone Auction what so ever, just thought it may be of some interest.

Either of those two would ‘suffice’ as far as I’m concerned rat rod! After many years of lagging behind it seems that the decent 3500GTs are now edging into Aston DB4/5/6 money. La dolce vita is bang on and the same notion applies to the lovely Lancia Flaminia GTs of the same era.

I’m edging a bit closer to Maser ownership now that I’ve sold a large chunk of my old railway memorabilia wink

Cheers rr wink. The S is awaiting a new clutch slave cylinder at present and the refurbished '60s Microcell front recliners I bought for it a few weeks back still need installing - apologies for the evidence of yet to be finished DIY in the background....!

A quick Maser offering to restore normal service....

Nice seats, rare i should think, Had a standard original Cooper when i was 18,can't believe that was 50 years ago,
Only extra it had was factory sports reclining seats in red/grey to match the rear seats,

Surprised haven't seen any other Coopers with them, must have been quite rare even then,

My Cooper S was factory original even down to the steering wheel apart from the standard vented steel wheels were very slightly wider than standard with correct hub caps, which i thought enhanced it but when i advertised for sale i was surprised how many buyers almost rejected the car because they were not original, just amazed me how finicky they were as the car had a nut and bolt restoration.

Sorry not a Mini forum, better get back to Maserati's

Yes quite rare and they weren't exactly cheap, but life's too short etc, etc. They're replacing the Newton Commercial factory recliner replicas which I'll be selling to a mate to go into his '69 Cooper, that he bought from me ten years ago. Original factory recliners are great though, I had a set in my late '65 Mk1 S, they were two tone grey with gold brocade. They were an expensive option when new, they were introduced in late '65 and not many people ordered them. Old Mini interiors aren't on a par with old Maser luxury but they have their charms.

P5BNij, if you’re still considering a Ghibli, my old one up listed on Autotrader (L299RTP)
It’s a stunning car, and was perfect when I sold it c 3 years ago.

Thanks Dunk - it's a car I've already got my eye on, I'm not quite there with the funds yet but I am definitely drawn to it. Always good to know a car's history and I know it's been through Dickie Grace's hands too.

What was it like to drive, and what was the auto box like compared to a manual...?

Really am interested in this one, which would entail a six hundred mile round trip to view. If some kind soul would buy my Mini 30 I'd be in with a shout!

Edit : just remembered you spoke about the autobox back in October, but would love to hear more about your ownership of L299 RTP wink

Yes - obviously not working at / from my end! Something odd happened when I changed my email address earlier this year, I've had the same trouble on a couple of other forums I'm on.

Meanwhile, more old Masers.... wink

Not sure if the same car or not but there was a Maserati Ghibli Auto, in the Bonhams Auction today, Reg No M755 GGP,
mileage 53,000 looks from the photo's the same colour or similar . had a estimate of £12k to £16k from memory,
sold for £9,562 including premium,
,Think someone may have got a bargain.
