I was hoping the 2013 facelifts would have dropped below £30k but no sign of that as yet. Been tracking prices for the bulk of this year and they’ve held up annoyingly well. I’m wondering now if the value proposition is a 2010/11 car under 45k miles around the £25k mark? I think I can make do with the pre facelift front end, but the seats look so much nicer in the 2013 on cars.

As ever it’s a quandary trying to decided if older car (with higher miles) + rainy day fund is a better approach than a slightly newer car with a higher purchase price and a smaller pot for when things go wrong.

I have a couple of months before I will be wanting to make a purchase so still time to find the right car. Hoping a few more come up for sale after Christmas!

I doubt one for £10k less to buy would cost £10k more in repairs if you buy well. But if you're hankering after a particular one I'd hold out for it to save changing it later. I personally prefer the original, the 4.7 still isn't that fast and the 4.2 is apparently quite a bit better on fuel if you're using it as transport. Harry prefers the 4.2.

I had a 4.2, as has been said its not nearly as fast as one might expect, BUT I think at the time I was expecting it to be a sports car which, as the name very obviously points out, it is not.
The exterior facelifts I can take or leave and whilst the chevron seats on later cars are more modern looking, the rest of the interior still looks quite traditional so I wouldn't get too concerned about that and just pick up a good one of whatever year.

Forgot to mention - it is a true 4 seater car with that can take 4 adults of any size large or small in the front and back, for any length of journey in distance or time, crossing entire countries or indeed continents, in absolute comfort wink

Used my 4.7s today for first time in a couple of weeks. Fab from start-up to locking it away again. Had an admirer stop for a chat whilst out.
Can't think of any reason to change it!

The startup noise is my favourite of any car ever made

Install the Naviplus system which gives you Android Auto / Apple Carplay using a transparent overlay on top of the original system and you're all set to cross continents with ease - without spoiling any of the originality of the car.

It looks very impressive, it didn't exist when I had mine & I had an aftermarket fascia & module made up, worked well but looks were a bit mediocre

All used car prices went up in summer 2020 - look at 911s - and are still hanging on. Not sure next mine.

Front end wise get which you prefer. I like the original (what I've got) and the final edition but not the Sport. The point is everyone is different. The Sport on front seats are nicer but I've never had problem with the original seats which FWIW give slightly more rear legroom.

Obviously prices will drop medium term so it's just about how long you are prepared to wait.

I would echo what Jakesmith has said, although unlike him I still have mine! Mine is now 11 years old and hand on heart it still makes me smile every time I get in it. The noise, even without the Larini X-pipe, is simply one of the best sounds to ever come from an engine, although I think from the picture above Jakesmith's was a 4.2 which has a different exhaust to the 4.7, which is what I have.

I actually don't think the costs of running these is that excessive for what they are. I think if you run them as a daily and drive them hard, the costs can start to rack up, but as a weekend plaything or long European trips, I think they are very hard to beat. Servicing is every 2 years or 12,000 whichever is first, which for me is 2 years. A full service is around £1200 from a good independent plus I needed a few other things done like a parking sensor and aircon compressor, so had a total bill for about £2400. I have been told I will need brakes all round next time but can't complain as they will have lasted for 12-13 years by that point and pattern parts make it slightly cheaper than Maserati parts.

I would advise that anyone thinking of buying do their research on the Sports Maserati forum, lots of very knowledgeable people on there, get an inspection and buy the best you can afford. The enjoy driving one of the last great naturally aspirated V8's to be made, we will not see a car like this ever again.
Great summary Colossus...my sentiments entirely... I do not envisage ever selling mine...I think values will eventually begin to rise.

There was some recent talk on windscreens...I did leave on PistonHeads somewhere an advisory on this ages ago...I’ll see if I can find it..

Found it...

Lovely cars with a few known issues. They look the part and if you can deal with the ancient interior, running costs and cheap switches then why not.

I'm tempted.

Well I did buy one....

2013 GT Sport Auto. 41k miles, carbon lip spoiler, side skirts, mirrors, diffuser, exhaust surrounds on the outside and an Ivory and carbon interior with blue contrast stitching and a carbon steering wheel.
Only had it a few days and initial thoughts, bearing in mind my frame of reference is heavily informed by supercharged Jags of about a decade ago-
The car feels significantly quicker than my old near 600bhp XFR. Cold Pirelli P Zeros are an interesting experience though!
When in Sport Mode engine noise is fantastic. I did also get my hands on an X pipe but I suspect I will leave that off for a bit.
The Bose sound system seems really good.
But somehow the screen/ electronic systems are worse than my Jag. No touch screen, no DAB and Bluetooth phone connection seems hit and miss. To that end I plan to get my hands on the Apple CarPlay kit via the SportsMaserati forum that some owners have fitted. By all accounts it really modernises the interface.
It’ll be somewhere between a daily driver and a weekend car- but given I nipped to the shops and ended up taking a 15 mile detour yesterday, I think it’ll be hard to keep the miles down!

Not sure if you know but the Apple CarPlay kit is available via other channels too - which may be quicker than waiting on the SM Forum.

Depending on where you live, Prestige Installs in St. Albans offer a supply and mobile fit service - I think he'll travel quite far. He did mine and it's been brilliant.

Interesting. The SM thread seemed to hint that Prestige were no longer trading and the chap was working for another organisation. Grateful for any pointers on these other channels you mention!

*like*
Same colour scheme as mine - Blu Sofisticato over Bianco Pregiato with Blu stitching?
Love the Neptune wheels too.
A serious amount of carbon on yours by the looks of it. Lovely!
The tech is woeful but I quite like that - I just ignore the phone and press the sport button instead smile

Google "Naviplus" - you can order the unit direct from them.

That car is beautiful, congratulations. Occasionally
my eyes are drawn by the Granturismo. There is a Bordeaux Pontevecchio example on eBay now which is virtually my favourite colour combo. I can’t bring myself to let the QP go though, it’s way too loved.

I have to agree that colour Bordeaux Pontevecchio is sublime. I wish I had been able to find one when I was buying.
If I have the right ad (the one in Rochdale) I am not sure I coudl live with the red wheel and dash though..
There were some bizarre colour combinations, took me a while to find the right one.
I think it is ok to have two Maserati.
