Elsewhere in this forum the question has been asked "Where does the Audi R8 V10 (Gen 1) sit on the supercar ladder?
I am interested in opinions as to where the Vanquish Volante (Gen 2) sits on that ladder? - Discuss

Astons own website calls it a Super GT.

/thread.

Who cares? If you have one and think it's a supercar then it's a supercar.

While classed as a GT (or Super GT in 'S' form), in terms of actual performance it sits in the middle ground between out and out Supercar and GT. It handles more like a Vantage than a DB9, which is surprising given the size (all carbon body helps keep the weight down slightly).
If 0-60mph times are key to deciding what it is, it certainly isn't going to win in that area, as it struggles getting off the line - but in gear acceleration is brisk enough (even in a 6 speed early car). It makes a pleasant noise, and the cabin design was perhaps the pinnacle of what Aston were producing at the time.

Unfortunately (for existing owners), values are on the cusp of tanking, so they might be a good buy in the New Year. PH takes a dim view about all things Aston Martin related these days though biggrin

Brilliant car, and even more noise with the roof removed. Spend £750 on de-catting it and you have one of the best sounding production cars in recent years thumbup
