Anyone shed some light on this problem.

Had a bit of wheelspin (nothing silly), drove another 3/4 mile and the ABS fault warning came up.
1/4 mile back home and shut down.

Came out 45 mins later and started the engine - engine fault came up (not ABS problem) - drove 1.5 miles.

45 mins later started the engine - engine fault (no ABS issue) - drive 1/2 miles and get the ABS failure as well.

Any clues where to start looking to sort out this lovely scenario?
The car still drives fine, sounds great, gauges read normal - except no traction control working.

It's impossible for anyone to paint a picture over the Internet you need to find someone who can read the stored codes for you

Agreed, codes will need to be read.
I'm just wondering whether this combination has been encountered before to get a heads up of what is likely to have failed / thrown a wobbly.

I've not got a Monkfish or Walkinshaw on the doorstep, only those highly trustworthy main dealers!
Forwarned is forarmed in my book.

re. the fault codes, can they be read by the typical Snap-On type readers or does it need to be something specific / dealer accessible only?

its likey to be a abs sensor thats gone for the abs / tc.

the codes can be read by any machine that can read GM codes.

Must be the weather! Had exactly the same issue leaving work this evening! Car started up ok, got ESP off error message, car stalled, took 4 attempts to restart and then ESP off, running rough...no check engine light. Drove 45 mins on the motorway with no issues then check engine flashed once, went off! Got home ok but suspect the battery is on its way out reading other similar threads?..

Anyone experienced similar?

Yes a bit far for a. Pop in to monkfish most code readers will get you a code so most garages will be able to give you a code number then go from there

I'll probably do that tomorrow and hope their reader spits out a code.

It does make me curious that both errors have come up so close together.
I know the engine fault can often be attributed to O2 sensors and the ABS being a wheel sensor but I can't see the link .... unless it just my usual bad luck!

I'll let the car cool down (freeze) overnight and see if it's feeling better tomorrow.
If it clears the great but I'll try to get a code irrespective.

This morning the ABS issue has become intermittent but the engine fault is still there.

I'm guessing that the ABS warning will clear if all sensors give the right answer but is this the case with the engine fault.
Does that need specific cancelling or is it feasible that, if all the sensors goes back into happy mode, the fault warning will go away?

I had the ABS warning light come up last year. I can't remember what the code was but Vauxhall replaced the ABS wiring harness under warranty to fix it.

Pop into Picadors in Sholing and ask for Chris in servicing.
He can read the faults

I've got a local garage that are going to have a go at getting any codes first.
If that fails then a trip to Picadors it is.

I've got some fault codes now.

Three came up ... C1210 C1224 C1235.

So far suggestions are right rear wheel speed sensor failure (C1224 and C1235) but have no idea what the C1210 relates to.
Errors were cleared and all lights went out.
On the drive home the ABS warning came up and then when restarting the car I've got the engine fault as well.

I'm guessing that C1210 is triggered as a result of the other two when start-up diagnostics are done.
Anyone able to confirm or comment on this.

Yep, this is a common occurrence, ECU X will flag a fault because ECU Z isn't responding as expected (because ECU Z has a fault itself).

Follow on thinking from this however.

I think there's a good chance that nothing actually needed replacing.
If this happens again I would unplug the rear harness connectors, clean and refit before spending money on bits.
