Not sure if VZclustermod would work for you (looks like you've got a VY VXR, though not sure if that rules it out), but if it would then it's cheap and simple to DIY.

I tried the ECT mod on my vy but I'm not convinced it took. I should really go back and check the tables.

I forget the details, Sturdy knows well though. Basically there's a thread on ls1gto that details the software development, then you need to make a cable and tweak the tables you want to change the cluster behaviour.

Wellfans kindly did mine when I was in Scotland. I get the Holden start up logo and the "Syetem Check... OK!" message as well as the shift light, buzzer and gearchange display message - so definitely worth trying again yes

It was the 'true' ECT gauge that interested me most, but I may go back in for a fiddle.

I am also keen to have the logo changed and shift light added to my 2004 big boot vxr. I am based in Surrey.

There was a posting about a month ago after ace meet and I sent a PM to the_ferret82 but had no response.

I am happy to travel a bit. Not as far as Scotland mind you

Ferret is in the Stevenage area, and Sturdy is around Milton Keynes, so both of those are a lot closer than Scotland. smile

If you're going to any of the V8UK events, Sturdy is usually there.

Ahoy!

Sorry, my internet is down at home and phone has eaten all its data, so I missed this!

I'm based in Aylesbury, happy to travel a bit too and yes, I'll be at all of the V8UK meets, I'm the one with the V8UKS numberplate hehe

As far as complication goes, the cable is simple to make and the software is just a matter of running it and typing the right bits in. I won't profess to be any kind of expert, I'm just the tool using the tool hehe

What you really all need to do is come along to this:

http://www.v8uk.co.uk/event/full-power-launch-2015...

hehe

Some details on the cable:

USB To Serial Adapter (as listings expire etc, you may have to search ebay if the link below is dead.)

It was listed as "FT232 Brush USB To TTL Serial Cable Line Electric Adapter FTDI Chipset Computer" and sold by 3997nicola

(The TTL bit is important, as that means it's 3.3V, which is what you need, and the FTDI chipset is a reliable USB to Serial converter chipset.)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201166318998

Then you just wire 2 of the wires in to one of these:

Listed as "Universal OBD2 II 16 Pin Male Connector Diagnostic Adapter" and sold by qqlx_uk

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221461368260

They're both UK sellers, you can find them cheaper from China of course, but who wants to wait that long?!

Here's a very thorough post on how to make the cable. It involves soldering 2 wires to 2 pins. It's very simple.

http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5798...

Here's the website by the bloke who did the software, all very simple to do, promise!

The cable looks straightforward, but the software I think I'll need to read that quite a bit! Thanks Sturdy for that info.

Hopefully the video will make life easier am going to order that cable this week. So next question...can it be programmed to do a needle sweep when the ignition is switched on?

Don't worry I guessed that's what happened. I have sent you another email/private message.

Let's hope the spam filters don't gobble it up.

I very much doubt it, we're only really tinkering with existing functionality here, adding new stuff is unlikely to be possible without changing the actual boot code on the cluster, and knowing how to program it etc. = complicated
