The gearstick bolts on my Rip Shift fell off this morning!

They had not been applied using loctite and as the GM Motorsport instructions make crystal clear, "you must use loctite on the gearstick bolts or they will come LOOSE". Those of you using the Rip Shift should check that this instruction was followed.

Since its fitment, there has been a buzz from the box and this was more noticeable this morning, prior to the problem. The box is now virtually silent with a slight vibration above 4k rpm.

When I installed mine I changed the Allen Head bolts too normal hex head bolts so I could get a normal spanner on them for a good tight fit...and I used loctite.

"Pomona" drilled two holes in the floor so he could do the bolts up tight from inside the car.

Have you used this garage for other work? as you might need to check all bolts!!!

You heard mine, it only vibrated on hard revs and thats the knob - is your like that now?

DID THE WORK MYSELF AND USED A WHOLE TUBE ON EVERY NUT AND BOLT

Mine is now silent - the only noise comes from the driveline. Even at high revs there is very little vibration.

Mine makes a sort of scraping and buzzing noise. I've been led to believe (Paul UKHSV) that the scraping noise is normal as the lever acts direcly on top of the cogs - there is no remote linkage. Holding the gear knob doesn't seem to make much difference to the buzzing noise. How is the gearknob attached to the lever? The bolts that came loose - are we talking about the stop point bolts (that restrict the forward and back movement of the lever) or other bolts on the gearlever itself? Or bolts that bolt the housing into the transmission tunnel? Mine was fitted by LSV - I would *assume* that the bolts have been loctited.

Best speak to Mark - he diagnosed problem and advised on remedy.
The noise you describe is very similar to mine before the problem. The scraping noise remains, but is not particularly intrusive and I couldn't recall whether this was prevalent with the original box, as it was changed 2 months ago.
