Dave I know what you are saying but most of our time is at boring driving and that's where I found the car lacking (at the time). I loved mine, I loved how exclusive it actually was. We stayed in Davos in 2009 and stayed (by accident) at the top hotel. Everyone there were in exotica and all came to talk to us. Same happened when we hit the south of France.

Brilliant shock and awe car. I guess I'm getting old, I miss my old XJ now for work horse duties, but the e39 just fits like a glove (though I now have to do the bloody power steering and maf's!)

Just saying I understand the OP's perspective but to date the two cars I've owned the longest are my old Monaro and my VXr8 as they were just right

Imperial are renound for their service, they tend to do a lot of very high end (ie Lambo, Bentley, Porsche, Fezza) and the 453's are superb! But people like to spend money on brands I guess. Verdestein Sestansas are great too

10 year bump for this (I was the OP)

Anyway, I never did find out what happened to this car. Something made me do a google search on the web and this thread came up. I’ve never seen it on any of the FB forums etc.

Checked the MOT history and it ran out last year, oddly showing 200KM instead of miles.

ANYWAY, all the above was obviously BS, as around 2 years ago I bought another one in white. Regretted selling the black one around a month after, but was only 30 then and didn’t really appreciate the car. So now I’ve got a 09 LS3 manual in white.

Be interesting to see if anyone replies to this smile

Reading with interest, I will reply. I understand your original comments, also get most of what others were saying. These are a good journey car, stronger and safer than my TVRs and despite a lot of power not as quick and certainly not as agile. Age (fear) is making me write journey car, I mean a car for the road. Sadly there are people on the roads who have zero respect or understanding of the damage they can cause so to be in a classic or sports car scares me, at least the Maloo has the ability to soak up an impact.

You are a blue oval man according to your garage....

Sums it up well tbh, ‘Journey car’. I only ever use mine for the odd weekend drive out or shows etc. can’t leave them parked anywhere as I’ve already had dents put in mine and had to have them pulled out.
