V2 HSV has spoken to Rod Clausen (the man who sold the UK HSV)and he has given us a list of all the cars sold in the UK........

In summary: GIV inported the following:

1 Maloo

[/quote]

This Maloo mate what model was it ? As you know Steff's has the Blue VX 15th Anniversary Maloo.

In the HSV Book it states that the Delft Blue was (Sedan Only) & the Build no's for the Maloo where, 1-25. Steff's build no is 33.

Maybe Rod Clausen can clear this one up for us.

Regards,
Rob.

Rob,

I don't know the number of the Maloo, but it was a Red 2001 (VX era) one as per picture:

Next time I chin wag with Rod, I will ask how it was numbered. I don't believe he had it re-numbered as he knew by the time the Maloo came into the country that he waz going how to Kiwi. So he wouldn't have bothered getting HSV to start a new number sequence. I'm sure it was actually in the garage when I was visiting in October 2001, but embarrasingly I can remember seeing it, but was more interested in the Commodores at the time.

I may know a man who I could ask in the UK though as Rod's brother Gregg still lives here.

Note: I don't know if that reg. is also the reg that was on it. Bloody good one though!

Will keep you informed.

Cheers

Eric

Eric, that reg no. is definately not on it, as I know who has it on retention!!! It's not me either!! Don't know if he wants to sell or not. It was up at one point, but it was a lot of money. Well into 4 figures if I remember correctly. When I win the lottery .............. There was a red 2001 Maloo for sale in Auto Express about 2 months ago. Could it be the same one? And now of course I can't find the magazine!

Thanks Eric,

Thanks mate would be good to sort that out.

As far as I knew there was only 2 Maloo's in the UK.

Back in Aug 2002, we had a picture sent to the Holden UK Reg of a VX Maloo with Reg MA51 LOO (MA LOO) not sure of colour as the pic in our Club Mag is a B&W pic. The car was seen in the Hitchin area (don't know where that is)At the time this was the only Maloo in the UK.

So unless it's the one that you talk about, there is now 3. I think !

Regards,
Rob.

I got clipped around the head for saying a VX Ute/Maloo!!!
VU Maloo or VU II Maloo would be the correct term!!
I am pretty sure there were some 15th anniversary Maloo's built. I assume all the extra cars are personal imports?
The VT series I Clubsport with the 5.7 engine was called the GTS over here too...There never was a VT series I 5.7 litre Clubsport. I am pretty sure they would have been identical cars to the OZ ones...those particular vehicles. In fact I think I can guarantee it is, as I have seen one in a Clarkson video...Was a blue colour. Only real way externally you could tell the difference between a VT I and VT II GTS was the side indicators/rear indicators being orange instead of the VT II white/clear.
Those particular cars value crashed when the VT II Clubbie was released as the VT I GTS only had the same power output as a VT II SS ie 30kw less than a VT II HSV. However they are very torquey engines so would beat a VT II off the line. Personally I think they have become a forgotten classic just like the last older Ford V8 made, the TE50/TS50 series III which is also a nice car.(Handbuilt 5.6 litre engine)

Sorry about that, yes it is called a VU & VU11 Maloo. Even though it is the VX model from Sept 2000 to Oct 2001 & VX11 model from Oct 2001 to Oct 2002. They call the Ute's VU then when the VY model came out in Oct 2002 the Ute then also became a VY.

Yes they did make a 15th Anniversary Maloo Ute along with the Clubsport & Clubsport R8, in 2002.

I took my mate Steff's 15th Anniversary Maloo to the last event at the Ace & I still have the smile on my face from the day that I drove it. He has told me he will definitely be coming along on the 23rd. As far as I know it's the only Anniversary Model in the UK.

For all those in Aussie, have a look at the Club Site Pictures www.hsvdriversclub.co.uk/home/ Go to Events & look at Pic's 24/07/2004 @ Shire Horse Pub and 07/09/2004 @ Ace Cafe, for pic's of the 15 Ann, Maloo.

Regards,Rob.
