Picked up my blue Monaro a few hours ago - 9 months old, 12k miles. Already been having a lot of fun

The dealer has lost the owners handbook but they didn't bother to order a new one until today. So, I've been having to guess my way around the car and generally have everything sussed.

2 questions: 1)How do you turn the front fogs on?

2)I can't seem to get the climate control to work properly - set at 17C or over, it just seems to pump out lots of hot air. Set on cold, cold air does come out but not as cold as you'd expect. It's almost as if the hot air stream is permanently on. Air-con compressor seems to kick in OK and the air is a little colder with the A/C on.

There is a little X under the right hand side temperature value - is this indicating a fault of some sort?

I'll be popping it back tomorrow morning for them to have a look at but just wondered if I was missing anything obvious. Had the car for over an hour on the test drive and don't remember there being any issues with the climate then.

Cheers,

Jon.

Congrats on the new car DrJon!

Pull the headlight rotary switch out for the front fogs.

There does not appear to be mention of a cross in the driver manual (the VXR has the same system).

What happens if you change the passenger-side temperature and then hold AUTO for 2 seconds? It should re-link the temperatures on both sides of the car and the temperature displays should flash.

to turn the rear fog light on press the button next to the traction control button just at the side of your left arm.

Cubbitus,

Thanks for the suggestion, will try it tonight.

I'd already worked out the rear fog light

Incidentally, was up at Autosport show yesterday - they have the new 6l VXR on the Vauxhall stand. Looks very tasty!

If you want to take another look at that new 6L VXR, and meet up with lots of other Holden/HSV owners then take a look at this thread

Ace Cafe, London - Sun 23rd.

Not sure if Vauxhall have their own owners manuals for the Monaro or it is just a Holden Monaro version. If it is just a Holden Monaro one. Can pick them up down here pretty easily.

Hmmm, well the climate control does work - sometimes. Went to go to the dealer this morning, the little X had disappeared, climate control all working, so I went into town instead.

Coming back, hit the demister button, the X came back and now it's stuck on hot again unless I set it to C. So it definately looks like the X is some fault indication - it's even present if you switch the climate control off.

1 other Q - what are the recommended tyre pressures?

Cubbitus - the meet sounds like fun - unfortunately, I'm away in Derbyshire that weekend.

Motomk - Dealer has ordered a manual and it will be here in a week or so. From what I've seen of the other Monaro literature, it'll be a Holden manual. Radio manual has the Holden name and logo on it. The service book is the only thing that looks Vauxhall specific.

Vauxhall technician a little perplexed - never seen that before etc. Will be going in for a proper look on Friday.

Oh, found the tyre pressures by the way!

Think they are Holden manuals.

My a/c has a mind of its own too, sometimes it shades different blades in the fan symbol to show the fan speed, and sometimes it displays F1, F2 etc etc. Also the car is prone to misting up, hopefully it will be ok in the summer when the climate is nearer to what the car was designed for.......

My owners manual is Vauxhall badged, so is the audio
system manual. (I have the original Holden one too)

I'm not sure how much they are customised to the UK, but they look to be a little more than just a rebranding.

Some of the tech data is missing for the VXR (unavailable at time of printing).

Climate now fixed. The X was indicative of a wiring fault which the dealer rectified. Also fitted new pads and I now have a Holden owners manual as well.

Hopefully there'll be no need to visit the dealer for another year.....

Glad it's sorted, now you can get down to enjoying your ride.

alfienoakes - mine does exactly what yours does, sometimes it's F1 etc and sometimes it's a series of black fan blades but you can only turn the fan off by switching the system to AUTO (which turns the AC ON) and then reducing the fan speed to zero and then you have to turn the AC off again - what a piss poor design mine mists up all the time too must be a design feature

Never had any problems with the a/c etc. Think design fine, maybe a fault with individual car
