I've been pondering buying a used Monaro and have been amazed at present used prices.
For less than £25K you can have a 2004 car with less than 3,000 miles on it. In one case only 30 miles.
I heard that there were only 50 to be sold in this country yet there are at least 16 for sale on Autotrader alone.
Were these cars £35K new?
Why are people selling so soon?
I'd like a test drive in one but there are no Vauxhall dealers local to me who would have one.

the standard Monaro cost £28,500 new (250 imported) and the VXR Monaro cost £35,500 (50 imported - only 40 sold to the public)

All the cars for sale in the trader are ex demo cars the dealers what to move soon as the 2005 car comes out in a few months.

Sorry to disappoint, but for that money you will getting a (if i can use the phrase) a standard Monaro. the 35 k one (only 50 )is the VXR version. Others will correct me but the vehicles you are looking at were £28.5K new

Not that there is anything wrong with a standard monaro! You won't get more power for your money.

Go buy!

Thanks. I thought that might be the case. No VXR versions for sale on Autotrader i think.
Might have to wait a year or go the Holden HSV route.

Paid £23k for a 9 month old standard Monaro with 12000 on the clock. Was ex-demo, then the dealer director had had it for a few months, hence the miles.

I've been trying to calm my speeding down but know I can't cope with low power boring cars. The std Monaro is fine for me - a very comfy relaxed cruiser but handles well and very entertaining if you want a bit of lunacy. Only the brakes, steering ratio and the headlights let it down.

I instantly liked it when I test drove it and so far, every day I drive it I like it more. Get yourself a test drive. I'm sure a VXR will always be more fun (and I may go for one when prices are more sensible) but a CV8 may be more than adequate for your needs.

There are currently 9 ex-demo VXR Monaros shown as being available on Network Q, ( http://vauxhall.co.uk/networkQ/vehicleSearch.jhtml?vehicleType=Car&advanced=true )the cheapest being about £31.5k, so you can still get a VXR if you want one
