Despite how rare I assume these are, I've seen four different examples of these over the past week, and each time they were driven so inappropriately aggressively for the time of day/location/setting it got me thinking that these are now attracting ex Focus ST drivers. I'm sure most of you will understand.

I get the appeal, big V8, relatively unusual and different to the established competitors, good looking, well to my eyes at least, cheap, or at least good value, loads of performance upgrades available. I like them.

I'm sure they are great cars, but would the image put you off?

I'd love one, it doesn't bother me at all who else owns them.

I know one person who has one and he drives it like a tt. His last car was a Focus ST that he also drove like a tt!

Ha, maybe it's just one of those cars that brings out the inner idiot...certainly the one I saw today, full bore start from each traffic light, which would have been great apart from there are three sets within about 100 yards and the phasing is such as each one goes green the next changes to red so the guy looked like a tool as he made loads of noise but didn't go anywhere...the old dears sat outside the coffee shop opposite looked suitable impressed when he gave that arm on the top of the door, seat reclined, drum and bass thousand yard stare....

With all that said, I've been looking at them in the classifieds for the last hour!

If you own a nice loud V8 you are obligated to give it the beans when there are onlookers. It's a kind of Public Service.......

Oh and just to clarify, I originally posted this in General Gassing before it was moved here, I get that everyone on this forum rates them.

That's the main thing surely? smile

To most people, anything louder than a Prius or accelerating faster than a milk float would cause offence...
although I personally think that enthusiastic driving should be reserved for less populated areas to avoid having the public turn against enthusiasts and fun cars.

Not all PHers are serial speeding, chav plating, unnessecary reving types of drivers. Some are quite rational and will not shy from giving the metaphoric beans to drivers who revel in posting what wheels they have and how fast they go. (whilst on the phone.)

Absolutely. Just to clarify, I'm not suggesting you shouldn't enjoy the performance of your vehicle when conditions are appropriate and where risk to others and your licence is at its lowest, but driving like an attention seeking cock, in a totally inappropriate manner in a heavily populated, mid day town centre...not so much.

There is no image mate there are so few of these cars that no image is created, there is only one in our town and its mine, most evenings i can see half a dozen ST Focuses around the town centre especially Tesco car park

Was just thinking the same...how can such a rare car especially one that most people wouldn't recognise create an image.

That's a fair comment.

I suppose I'm just conscious that as soon as I start taking an interest in them, every one I see seems to be driven, to some extent! In the manner I've described, the worst example being today.

Of course I'm not suggesting every owner is like that, but unfortunately some models of certain cars can start to attract negative connotations.

As I've said, I originally intended this for general gassing before a moderator moved it into this sub forum.

Just because one owner revs their car and drives a bit idiotic passed a few traffic lights don't tarnish the brand.

BMW and Audi drivers will always be the Top Bell End drivers out there. They still can't work out what indicators are for !!

Most VXR8 and Monaro owners are not boy racers and are car enthusiasts / petrol heads and drive respectfully but you can't have it 100%

My age stops me from driving like a bellend but occasionally I might hit the loud pedal in a tunnel, oh! after putting the windows down of course.
