he is not hurting any one having a bit of fun between lights , the idiots on the road are the ones that cut you up , drive like idiots etc , coming back from work a golf driver did a head on over take into on coming cars and got a lot of hoots , he was tailgating me most of the way too , let's put this post into perspective regards that , a bit of fun for some v a dangerous over take by a golf driver , i would rather meet the fun guy not the one who's going to cause a fatal crash and getting people's backs up and driving like a c..k

I think the title of your OP isn't helping you attract serious debate, whilst I appreciate you didn`t ask to be dropped in this forum you have to accept that it will attract a little animosity.

The accusation could be levelled at many different cars but as stated previously its the drivers fault not the car. The VXR8 is relatively rare as stated and many owners ive met/chatted to on here and especially FB are mature drivers not the quintessential boy racer stereotype.

P.S I'm a Monaro owner not a VXR8 so neutral on the argument
Fair enough, moving of the thread was unfortunate. Although equally some of the posters could perhaps have helped by reading what I'd typed, not just the title.

Out of interest how may VXR8's are in the country?

Certain cars tend to attract certain drivers and certain stereotypes, not always accurate and not always representative of course.

I started to take notice of VXR8's, and it appeared that the next four I noticed were being driven in an overly (and I'm no angel by any stretch, where it is appropriate) spirited manner, certainly on the pulse raising side of what I'd say was acceptable on the road. The last example from the town centre...no excuses for that it was just a guy being antisocial, and a bellend.

I'm not suggesting this is representative of the majority of owners necessarily, but it has become noticeable.
The only reason I can think of for this being moved from GG to here is that someone at Ph Central doesn't like you f1nn. hehe

I think it's good to have a perspective from someone outside of the group, every now and again.

The VXR8 is a 'shouty' car before you turn the key. It attracts people that like to show off so I'll agree that there will often be more show-boating than from cars with a more restrained style.

You're lucky to have seen 4 of them in a short space of time. I only usually see that many at a meeting.

If you want to have a look around one before deciding, let us know where you are and I'm sure someone close will show you around theirs. smile

Have to agree, the young lad down the road has an 04 Civic type R and drives like a tit, he overtook me in the wifes car (whilst we had the kids) in a very dangerous manoeuvre which resulted in me knocking his door later that day. He also used too leave it idling with his cheapo exhaust droning away at 5.30am every morning or in the evening which could be heard over the TV from 50 yards away through double glazing until the entire street had words in his ear.

That is my definition of a bell end yet I overtake in decent positions at speed and because I have headers, sports cats and a Wortec system I imagine the recipients despite the safety and legality of my manoeuvre called me similar due to the noise involved. Loud cars will always attract attention and comments regardless of the circumstances

Yeah, I agree with that, and I suppose it's that image, or perception maybe, that I'm not sure sits particularly well with me.

I should drive one and take it from there.

Thank you to the sensible posters.

That would be unfortunate for f1nn, I guess an alternative would be an attempt to get some of our more enthusiastic members to post things that could get them in trouble scratchchin

OP, I like to think that I drive sensibly but when you are at the lights in these cars (with the right exhaust) that the taps need to be opened. I am 38 and it still needs to be heard. The noise is like a drug......its that good. I wouldn't say it makes me a bell end. I have a monaro VXR and love it to bits. Its also more of a weekend car so when it goes out I "enjoy," it so in daily mode it wouldn't be as abused......maybe the wrong word but you get my drift.

I have motorbikes and my wife has an outlander PHEV. The bikes are ridden within reason and I am trying to beat the high score on the MPGs in the PHEV so its the car you drive that gets in your head a bit. That said, I wouldn't let my license get under threat so its well in control.

No.

Only seen you on two threads and you annoyed people on both of them.

Enjoy your evening.

You're getting annoying now. I'm assuming that f1nn spurned your advances, but the way you keep trying to bait him.

I'm the one baiting people?

At 20.29 he basically called jameshsv1 a tt and he created a whole thread about VXR8 owners being bellends!

On another thread he insisted the 225mph carbon fibre M600 supercar is a kit car. Which is clearly an untruth.

IMO he's talked nonsense about the Noble and and type of people who own your cars.

I took exception to the thread title because I know two owners of VXR8'S and I was sticking up for them and other owners. I've driven their cars and they are a blast!

I'm not the one who thinks you are bell ends, he is.

I will now quite happily leave the thread for good and delete it from my topics to prevent any further derailment.

Apologies to those who thought that to be case.

So, looking at the classifieds and what's available, where would people with experience of these cars say the sweet spot is in terms of price?
