The sad reality is, if you're going to attend events like that, get used to it. It shouldnt happen, but it does happen.
Buy a VBox and then you'll always have your own data.
I remember at VMax, my best run of the day (186mph) Buy a VBox and then you'll always have your own data.
was claimed by a bloke in a Merc. He started off in one lane and ended up in another! As you said, it's only a bit of fun so no point getting upset. Nobody really cares how fast you go anyway.

Javelin have looked into all the data from the day. Data that is automatically fed into the results database.
Only one car throughout the event registered the speed of 286KPH. That was VXR8lady.
Javelin advise you are more that welcome to put a reasoned written case to admin@thunderroad.co.
They will then, given that opportunity, will provide a professional and reasoned response to you rather than further internet ranting.
Please note that, for whatever reason, you did not complete all of your 5 runs so I think personally you should have taken all the chances you had to get your best result.
I sure as hell didn't do 220 on my last run Dougie, that aint even out of 4th. I have all the logs to prove it as well. I know I only ran three runs, that is not the point. My fastest run that I did do hasn't been credited to me and that is all I ask.Only one car throughout the event registered the speed of 286KPH. That was VXR8lady.

According to my speeds on the display and my phone calculator, I couldn't break 160mph...according to Javelin I did I'll take that.
I've been to the mile run about 3 or 4 times now. I really appreicate the time, money and effort the the VXR team but into hosting the event.
There is no other like it for the price.
I have however noticed that since my first event, and every event after, there has always been some sort of "issue" with the Javelin timing gear...which is unfortunate.
But no matter if the timing gear was off or not, most of us ran under the same conditions.
I've always enjoyed myself and will continue to do so in/if there are future events.
Thanks to everyone involved.

I saw a comment on another forum that the speeds looked a bit out and it turns out they are. To go from kph to mph, Javelin have divided by 1.6, when it should be 1.609.
This means I actually went 1mph slower than last year! I blame the headwind...
Still, at least everyone's were divided by 1.6 so all were out by the same tiny factor. This means I actually went 1mph slower than last year! I blame the headwind...
I think it's all been taken too seriously it's a good day out to meet other club members and have a catch up , and maybe me be a bit quicker than a rival ute? plus have some very good food and hospitality , i went last time and thought it was a great day out , i feel some people how they have spoken about javelin is not right , if things were a bit off i'm sure it was not on purpose , look at the difference in rolling road results

I agree, when all said and done it is a meeting of like minded people doing what they like best, talking about cars.Bring it on

But when the whole point of such an event is to get a speed result...it does kind of matter whether that's a fictional one, or an accurate one.I recall the first one I went to...standing mile.....except it wasnt a mile, they shortened it because ate through their cables.
st can happen, but at least be honest and open about it. But there really is no excuse for results problems on a regular basis. And I'm not saying that specifically about Javelin as it happens over here at local events too and is bloody ridiculous.
What method of speed measurement, what logging rate and is that at the exact same point they might be measuring ? ( baring in mind events like that measure speed between two points of a fixed distance )
It can be difficult to compare your own results...to that of a venue for a few of the above reasons. But always good to have your own data if it is accurate and repeatable.

Just a GoPro 5 so prob not massively accurate and the gps is also out of sync with the vid so hard to tell where it actually happened. Was also not the disputed run but the run prior. Battery died shortly after so didn't get the last run on video. Just thought it was pretty cool picture Shame it wasn't 1mph faster.
Get a VBox.
Older version can view all the data live on screen as well as always datalogging it.

Or the VBox Sport has no screen, slightly better GPS unit at 20Hz and requires an app for viewing, or again records everything too. The sport also has a built in power supply which could be handy too, the older units need a wired 12v supply.

The you'll have your own records of data, results, performance etc etc at all times.

Your still the fastest at a thunder road event in your Ford I recall the first one I went to...standing mile.....except it wasnt a mile, they shortened it because ate through their cables.

If I can get a gearbox that wont break I'm sure it would go a good bit faster again...doubt I'll ever do a mile again though....simply because the speeds would be too high lol Too feckin dangerous in mine unless I can work some magic with the aero to stop it trying to take off.It is a surprise nobody else has hit 200+ yet though in any of the mile events

Many lack the power of yours Stevie and in my case, gearing was the limiting factor, bouncing off the rev limiter in 5th by 3/4 mile which works out at 186 mph. I doubt I'll do another one either after the £20k it cost to replace my engine. PD blowers get too hot over the mile too as intake temps struggle.Gassing Station | HSV & Monaro | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
