I love that you've been driving the Monaro around your garden hehe

Car looks great, love the little front lip as well.

Have you considered lowering it perhaps? Here's mine.

For me, once a lowered Monaro has been seen, it cannot be unseen yikescloud9

Sturdy, can the lowered springs be used as opposed for plumping for the whole strut and spring kit? Might make things cheaper if the original struts are fine.

I totally agree that a lowered monaro looks the nuts! Unfortunately I have a driveway on a hill and the cats scrape on the way in/out so it can’t go any lower. If I did the only place I could drive it was round the lawn! As it looks from my pics.

That black VXR look v cool sturdy!

Sturdy, that’s “super low” springs up front and “low” in the rear iirc? Looks great.

I’m still debating what to do with mine.

Thanks, super low on the back made the rear lower than the front, which was a bit much for me (top of the tyre was actually tucked up in the arch!)

It's an expensive solution but if you can find a buyer for your long tube headers (I assume long tubes hence low hanging cats) you could get AAS to make you up a set of mid length ones, which keeps the cats higher up? I've got mid lengths on mine and have had no issues with cats scraping in the 6 years or so I've had them fitted, even now that it's super low up front.

Yep, you can just get the springs from Pedders and pop them on. Few things though, the OEM dampers do wear out fairly quickly (mine were well past their best by 30k), and putting lowering springs on will wear them out even quicker.

I have the OEM replacement Pedders struts, these are slightly upgraded over factory, retain the ride comfort and made a HUGE difference to body control compared to the worn out OEM ones. They're also not hugely expensive so worth saving up for if possible I'd say (but then I would say that, wouldn't I? hehe )

Yep, Pedders super low up front and low in the rear. Mr C V8 on here has the same arrangement on his Impulse Blue CV8 and it looks fantastic.

Cheers Sturdy! That actually makes a lot of sense. Was there a reason behind the “long” tube? It’s a royal pain in the butt as the car isn’t even that low yet those short but sharp speed bumps cause me to slow right up in fear of damaging the cats. Also I have to get the family to exit the car on the street before I back down the drive.

Longer exhaust primaries offer better torque down low due to some rather complicated physics hehe

The 5.7 VXRs came with 'shorty' headers that I'd imagine would be available cheaply if you can find them as they'll be surplus to requirements once people upgraded. Depends what your power goals / priorities are with the car I suppose smile

Every day’s a school day! In fact it’s a great excuse!
Curious chap; Your exhausts don’t fit very well?
Me; More torque innit!

Yes. In two minds about it though. I love the car more than any car I’ve ever driven so would be happy if it stayed with me till the end!... but on the other hand I have a wife and kids who Have their own list of wants (new bathroom/driveway/holidays) but a Monaro isn’t one of them.
Will leave it to fate. And one lonely pistonheads add for now....

Took this at Sheringham on the north Norfolk coast on Thursday evening. Roads were very quiet and the sun was shining, it made for a great ride out!

This may be a mute point now as you’ve put your car up for sale. But did you ever sort the engine covers out you wanted? I’ve only just read your thread as I’ve just returned to the forum after 18 months away, but should you be interested I have a pair of Monkfish CV8 covers in my cupboard going unused

Oooh, yes I might! Do you have a pic of them? I will try a google and see what I find. How much would you want for them?

A red CV8 Monaro on a road in Sheringham?.... hmm now that’s what got me wanting a Ro in the first place, when I first saw and heard one way back in 2004. I can even remember where it was, as I was walking past the big toy shop / newsagents in the town on the high street smile.

Just a sad little bit of trivia for you. Great looking Monaro by the way.
