Sad day for us all. I too have had nothing but excellent service from the guys there. I moved from Kent to be closer 8 years ago - a mile away and too pleasure in seeing all your cars on the A421 making the pilgrimage for servicing and work.

A great loss to the community, coincidence that Holden are stopping manufacture of Aus developed cars this year too.

I'm so lucky that we are moving to the NE at the end of August and will have AAS available to us, with a 60 minute drive but better than nothing.

To the Monkfish lads, thanks you for 10 years of attention and service.

It's sad as Monkfish were my go to for everything usually. I have even driven the car there a few times from Manchester. I can also get the issues surrounding it, as I'm stuck in a situation now where work is taking over my life.

Sure Walkinshaw can still look after them, also MW Performance in Chester.

I know another garage in the NW that wanted to start catering towards these as well. At the moment though they are still very much a Japanese specialist.

+1. Monkfish have been a big part of the community and helped me get my car back on the road after all the problems I had with the "other place". At one, real low point; I thought I was going to have to sell it as a rolling shell. I thought mine would never be finished but now that appears to be the case.

Roger, you have my contact details - if you have a change of heart and want to do another twin turbo Monaro, I could be persuaded!

It is very sad MF are closing down, lots of owners used them and they were always good with spares and delivery was always next day, there are still places about that are good with these motors like NJW autocare in Kent, Carl Herkes down west and WP there are still options to have these cars serviced and repaired.

MF got lots of the parts via Walkinshaw. Ref South servicing try Carl Herkes on the facebook HSV forum. Done lots of work on our two VXR8's. Shame to see anybody close down. All the best for whatever you do guys.

The difference is. Neil at NWJ autocare isn't going anyway and is a well established monaro mechanic as we both know.

Hi been following this post as quite concerned about future servicing and problems occurring, I live in the s/east and have never heard of NWJ where are they based and does anyone have a contact number? All the best to Roger and Andy though , would it be out of order order to ask them if they could be contacted via this forum on issues concearning cars that perhaps other specialists that we may be going to use may not be used to the to the small subtle problems that they are not aware of

Very sad news, used to look forward to my yearly service trip down south, but I'm sure they have their reasons and good luck to them on their future projects.
They will take a lot of experience and service info out of what is already a small circle of people. Is there anyone in the north, when I say north I mean "north of the border" who can look after these cars as they are meant to be ?

Neil is based in Chatham https://www.facebook.com/NWJAutocare

It is a sad day for the community that MF are closing down, but I am sure others will fill the gap in due time.

Any reputable garage would have the knowledge and ability to look after these cars as they are so simple and basic , it is not as if they are an Rs6, M6 , Gtr etc

Not quite North of the Border but I believe AAS in Newcastle are rated by some on here and the FB group

I keep hearing Kev at Bridgend group in Kilwinning Ayrshire is a dab hand with the V8's, he has his own LS2 apparently and a couple of the boys from Fife direction have vouched for him previously so us " Northerners" should be fine.

Was a real shock to see this yesterday. I haven't had a lot go wrong or done too much to my car but the annual trip to Monkfish always was a good one.
Wishing Roger, Andy and the rest of the team the best for the future.

For those of us in Hertfordshire I guess Walkinshaw is next closest unless you want to risk the M25 in the morning?

Started my panic buying this morning... smile

Few little goodies to see the car to the end of the year hopefully, then maybe it'll be time to move it on. frown

There is no need to panic, there is loads of positives read above, and certainly not enough to sell the car.

You wouldn't believe how many times they were in and out of each other's workshops, just to get someone's car back on the road without a 14 day wait for parts to arrive. It's good that rival companies had such a good business relationship and could do that for our benefit. cool I'm not sure which way the balance of payments went but from the size of the Monkfish inventory I would think Walkinshow made more trips. hehe

As for Roger and Andy's plans, I have just posted them on the AAS thread. Worst case scenario is that they will sell their inventory piecemeal over the next year or so. Once it's gone, it won't be re-stocked. They will still be supplying brakes, suspension and steering by mail order from the Pedders UK (another of their companies) website.

From a business point of view, I think it was a very rational decision for them. I wish them every success in their new venture and thank them for the excellent professional service I have received over too many years.
