With the very sad news that The Fish will be no more I suppose we all need to find alternatives.
Anyone had experience with ST Racing in Norwich? I believe they have a race prepared VXR8 and just spoke to them on phone and they told me they can get most parts in a couple of days

When I first saw the topic, my first thought was them. I've no experience of them though, sorry.

Thanks for reply. I'm due a service so may try them. Will let you know how it goes if I do. Presume your in Norfolk? I've been going to Monkfish for nine years so will be odd to go somewhere else, but as they run a racing VXR8 they should be o'k I'd imagine

I spent a couple of years at College with Shaun Taylor many moons ago. He is a very nice chap, I've heard no bad word said about his company's work. I was considering using him for servicing the cv8 if I don't do it myself

Hmmmm.......asked STR to price up front discs and pads. £820!!!! So didn't go there as I thought if they can't be bothered to find a better price than that maybe it's not the place to go

Clive Atthowe on Salhouse road has always had a good reputation, has rolling Road etc. Always a fairly tasty bunch of cars outside. Looked after my Subarus in the past. I've always used him for re-map and tuning but not sure about his servicing costs

Where in Norwich/Norfolk are you? Are there any others with cv8 or vxr? I see the odd R8 about but never seen another Monaro

Thorpe St Andrew but I don’t use the monaro daily. Even less between now and spring. My wife spotted a red VXR a while back in Asda Norwich with ‘STU’ in the number plate but It’s not been seen again.
I was at the Apreciating Classics car meet in Thurton in August and there was a black VXR there but it was a trader and not that local either.
Having such a rare car is a lonely business!!

Nice! First white one I’ve seen! Do you use yours regularly or is it more of a fair weather/weekend thing? Any modifications?
It’s not exactly the right time of year but the apreciating classics meet at Thurton is local to us both if you are up for a monaro mini meet? They have an outdoor bar and BBQ! Prob won’t start again until April though.....

Thanks for comments on garage! Don’t get excited though, it’s only wood laminate...
I built it last year, always wanted a garage like this, it was worth the effort.

If you were happy to drive to Monkfish, Walkinshaw are only a bit further on.

I use mine once a week usually, keeps everything ticking over I spose. Yes I'd be up for the Thurton thingy. Be nice to meet another local owner.

As for mods I've done the expected ones over the years as funds permitted
Catback intake and remap. Ripshifter, pedders shocks, polybushes and diff change. How about you?

I’ve only had mine since June, bought it from Manchester (they all seemed to be up north!) just turned 50k miles. mine has Borla system, high flow cats, rip shift, AP’s, induction and MF re-map. I’ve since put the new 18” wheels on and now upgrading the stereo. I quite like the idea of electric cut outs but not totally convinced.

I like the idea of electric cut outs but find the motors kept on failing so i just ended up with the cutouts open all the time

I imagine that gets tiring quickly! I notice there is quite a bit price range inline. Is it worth paying for the more expensive ones?
