So after a lot of people saying on the GTO FB page that royal purple should be given a miss, I decided to drop the stuff out of my diff and replace with Castrol syntrax and some Redline modifier and what a massive difference, so much quieter and no knocking, should have done it when I replaced last year won't be using royal purple ever again.

It attacks the soft metal parts in the diff that causes diff problems

Well I've never heard of that before, I wonder if that's affecting my Truetrac?
I might just change the oil to an old mineral type and see what happens.

My diff was knocking a bit,so i changed the oil (castrol)and it went quiet, but wasnt locking reliably. I bought a kaaz to be sure.

When I pulled the stock diff carrier out this is what greeted me. I didnt see any white metal in there ;-)

So yea I was glad I bought the kaaz, It was very harsh at first, but now its bedded its lovely. 2nd car ive put a kaaz in.

Its in the FAQ's I posted. You cant use any oil with a friction modifier in Helical diffs!

Would this be Castrol Syntrax 75W 140 by any chance? Can you give a clue as to how much Redline modifier you added please? Ta

Yes mate I put 1 ltr of the syntrax 75w 140 in first then 1/2 of a 4oz bottle of modifier then topped up with the second bottle of syntrax

Neither have I.........and there is no white metal in a Monaro diff.
I've use Royal Purple in my Monaro for 65k miles and it's still running sweet at 113k miles.
Monkfish were users of Royal Purple - good enough endorsement for me.

thumbup to Royal Purple.
