I’m very tempted to join FB just for the monaro/holden content but at least On here I don’t get a friend request from my ex wife’s, best mates mum. Or that girl I fancied in high school just because 20 years later I’m finally better looking than she is! You know the ones......
I was on FB for about 3 days and they were the sort of emails I was getting, I'd only joined to have a look at a bike that was for sale locally. I couldn't be asrsed sitting there going through all the different settings so I deleted the account. My mate says he is just way too busy to get his car built and just doesn't have the time, but he has time to sit and complain on FB for hours about how little time he has for doing things! For these reasons fb is bad!!!
I was always anti FB and resisted until I bought a Monaro, started off on here but found it a bit hit and miss and slow for replies and to be honest a bit cliquey.
Anyway I took the plunge on FB and glad I did, provided you stick to why you joined (Holden groups/enthusiasts) there should be no issue, wouldn't come off FB now at least not whilst I have a Holden even more so given the paucity of certain spares. Ive met some decent people who I would never have met had I not joined the groups

Steve,I dont think this forum necessarily "clicky". A lot of guys on here know each other personally after many years joining each other at the various meets/events. Don't confuse that familiarity with cliquishness. The fact is that FB is less regimental than the rules on this forum and that is why its virtually now dead as many of the older members simply wont put up with the kind of interventions we got from the mods and have moved on.Anyway I took the plunge on FB and glad I did, provided you stick to why you joined (Holden groups/enthusiasts) there should be no issue, wouldn't come off FB now at least not whilst I have a Holden even more so given the paucity of certain spares. Its a shame, but that is the reason for the decline. There is still very useful information for Holden owners in the FAQ's.
Don't get me wrong I searched this to death for my Monaro purchase and R8 stuff and it is a good source of info. It can be a bit fiddly to use as opposed to say the RX8 UKOC which is excellent. My post wasn't meant as an insult to its members more frustration at slow replies or no replies to stuff in the past. I have noticed a drop off on here even over the last 12 mths.
I'm not a computer whizzkid but a good OC website could be a very useful asset to owners especially where spares and technical knowledge is concerned, maybe the next progression for someone with the time and skills to put it together. If there is interest check out the RX8 site for an idea of what can be done for a niche car and passionate owners.

Er, isn't this the Holden/HSV forum???
Another none-bookface member here. I closed my FB account last year, nothing but hot air on there!
Agree, whole heartedly Another none-bookface member here. I closed my FB account last year, nothing but hot air on there!
(That's an old, old running forum joke for those of us that can remember! Dyno numbers was the subject)
I've never had Face-ache but have seen others' accounts. I'm not missing anything and I'm preserving my "identity".
lol.....the unfortunate thing about facebook is the one up man ship rubbish.....and look at me dross....when the dislike button arrives I'll get on it, then only my mates will stay on my list and those who aren't precious and appreciate the banter.
Back to thread, massive shame but lets hope someone picks up the mantle.....a bit like triumph and Norton in the UK with the motorbikes.....its possible (although doubtful).
