After Monkfish closing I was trawling the net for different part suppliers, came up with this.

They seem a wee bit cheaper, does anyone have any experience of them? thanks

Monkfish are still supplying suspension, brakes, etc via their pedders.co.uk site.

As for EBC, I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. I had some bad brakes and GaryH had problems with VXR8 parts too.

Has this forum really sunk to the depths where brakes looking 'awesome' matters more than their ability when worked hard?

Have a search around. I'm sure there's pictures of how GaryH's brakes looked with EBC products, and when he complained, they couldn't give a monkey's.

I put a set of 6.0 VXR EBC discs and yellow pads on in May. In fairness they seem absolutely fine. The pedders rear brakes I fitted in Feb needed painting as they quickly went rusty.

Calm down mate, he prefixed his "looks nice" comment with the fact they bite nice, which is in reference to their ability.

No need to get your pants in a twist

No, try again. They bite nice but look awesome. I know what I want my brakes to do, and looking good isn't anywhere near the top of the list.

- but can you actually get their AP kit there?

was that kit AP parts they made into a kit, or an official AP kit for the Monaro, because I can't find to listed through AP...

If you want new discs, they are still selling the DBA discs. Not sure about calipers, you'd have to check with them.

I'd stick to the tried and tested products, some people have had bad experiences with the EBC kit (specifically on Monaros / VXR8)

The DBA stuff from Pedders.co.uk is well regarded.

If you want to save a few quid, then these have been bought by many other forum members without issue: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HSV-VE-CLUBSPORT-R8-GTS-...

I'm in the market for brakes but waiting to see whether the 2 piece discs that Issac / Carl are doing stand up to testing.

Not had any good experience with EBC discs - they used to be prone to cracking etc and it has put me off ever using them again.

However I used to run Yellowstuff pads on my Vectra VXR, which is also a heavy car, and they performed fine for road use and also some occasional track work too.

Thank you all, those e bay discs look good.

So its about £440 for the kit, and is that £300 for postage? seems a bit steep.

And I take it there will be some import tax due?

What have other people paid to have the kit delivered here? Thanks

If you want a full AP kit, then Walkinshaws are the people to speak too. Pedders can do DBA replacement discs and Pedders Kevlar pads.

The delivery is what it is...

Works out at <£1000 delivered, taxes paid, etc. which is good value for full set of discs and pads (that people have used on track without issue).

As stated above, the other option is the DBA stuff from the pedders site. A little more expensive but sourced locally should there be any issues.

I had a set of DBA grooved from Pedders a couple of weeks ago for around £450, weren't on the website so ring and speak to Roger. Isaac James on the FB pages is also selling some custom discs
