Lol , he’s now messaged me back , he’s binned the straps but if I have five confirmed people I can take mine off and get a set built , I would have preferred he told me before throwing the copies out , what a shame , if people are serious then please put your log on name on here , when we have 5 people then i will take a 20£ deposit and go from there , the straps will be the same as before in this post

Not a surprise that it's gone up tbh. I'm definitely still interested and happy to pay a deposit. Really appreciate the effort you're going to here!

So an update , I think I’ve found somewhere that can do the straps , a rough estimate is 200£ for all three as I need to put a figure out there , i don’t want to remove my straps and travel a fair distance and come back empty handed , if any one else is still interested please pm ASAP cheers

Hi everyone. Just joined. VXR 2010 .Do you still have tank straps available?
My CV8 is showing it’s age. Both outer straps have turned to dust.Although it still passed its MOT (on the day the ABS decided to work.) Mechanic advised to not fill the tank,or it might decide to go it alone.

Cheers. At the moment they are soaking in H2O. I’ll get on it when the ground dries out.

Just to make you aware , there’s an earthing wire petrol filler side , the rest is a mixture of nuts and bolts of different sizes , the centre strap , the rear hole is off set , the front hooks in to the diff support so just check it’s properly located , the worse bit to deal with is rust , my bolts were fine with a bit of wd40 etc used a few days before taking it off , not trying to state the obvious but do one strap at a time

Just done mine, I got them from Chris before Christmas but car time is always rare and precious!

Needed a bit of fettling to fit, and my LH strap was wider than the one removed so I needed a 60cm long strip of thin rubber 8cm wide, as the tank underside is moulded to take a narrower width of strap.

Also needed to re bend two of the three straps to follow the profile of the removed ones, and needed a vice to correct the bend at the bolted end flat section on a couple of them.

Just so you’re aware it’s not quite a bolt on job. Or wasn’t for me.

But all done without too many dramas.
