No pedigree needed George think outside the box and enjoy.
I hate the normal approach which is is why I own a Monaro, these cars really get under your skin!
I like the idea that these cars are blunt agricultural tools. Mine is sticking around.I hate the normal approach which is is why I own a Monaro, these cars really get under your skin!

I like being a bogan so much I had to add more bogan to the stable with a ute. With stickers on it.

Hmmm,
As the owner of a 'genuine' VXR500, I guess I get to comment in amongst all of this negativity.
I like the idea that the car is authentic and has a history - and I did get the chance when I bought it (whilst I had a 'standard; Monaro VXR 6.2) to go for a version with 'better' bits such as an Intercooler etc.
It's not just about performance or best - do we think that a Ferrari 250 LM is worth £13.6 million! (And no, I'm not comparing my car to a Ferrari).
It's about how much you desire the thing - and I desired a VXR500 - and was lucky enough to get hold of one.
TBH, I don't really care that someone is selling one for £40k as I didn't buy it for the chance it might appreciate. Are we forgetting the phrase "I just want one".
Whilst it is really wonderful to hear all of the negative comments and reasons why folk wouldn't buy one - I think we may be missing the point . Here's me thinking that this forum was for car enthusiasts.
Best regards,
Ian - a very delighted person to be the proud owner of a Monaro VXR 500.
congrats Ian .. it is a great car ..
i didn't know you could spec it when purchased new .. what were the options ?
cheers

They also did 2 VXR600s. Jez’s car I believe was one of them. They had intercooled 122hh blowers running 12psi of boost, developing about 600hp.
Blower technology has moved on and I wouldn’t pay a premium for a VXR500 when most of the Monkfish cars are way better.
was the vxr600 done by greens or by monkfish Blower technology has moved on and I wouldn’t pay a premium for a VXR500 when most of the Monkfish cars are way better.

I suspect it was Greens that made the VXR 600. Monkfish didn't officially name their conversions as such. Mind you a lot of their cars did produce about 600HP so there might not be any difference between a Monkfish car and VXR 600 anyway.

I didn’t think there was an official vxr 600? The 500 was authorised by Vauxhall hence badgesMonkfish didn't officially name their conversions as such. Mind you a lot of their cars did produce about 600HP so there might not be any difference between a Monkfish car and VXR 600 anyway.

here's another question
would you buy a vxr500 or a vxr8 bathurst s ?
It's the same reason you would by a Monaro over a VXR8.would you buy a vxr500 or a vxr8 bathurst s ?
I like VXR8's, but I have some strange attraction to a two door coupe, more so than for a four door car. I would therefore have the VXR500.
In the real world the Bathurst edition would probably be the betterr car, both from a practical and dynamic point.
