I was used to 22 mpg as an average, gentle application of the throttle on long runs would take it to 26 mpg, floor it all the time and it can be anything from 8 to 11 mpg, forget economy around town 11 -14 mpg.

Blow it and the bootom results go to 4 mpg and top figures go to 25 mpg

I drive the 400bhp version of the HSV LS1 (Callaway modified C4B) as fitted in the UK model GTS-R. Mine a Coupe but I average about 17mpg with about half and half city & freeway driving

Same engine as above, up to 28 on a long motorway run down to 15-18 around town.

Have a lightly tuned VXR, average 20.4 mpg, best achieved 32.4 (over 200+ miles). 8.2 on track. Above average for a 430+bhp V8 i would say!!

All I can say about it is, I have been to Lemans for years in may cars, and it's the only car that have got from Dover to Leman without filling up. 4 up and lots of Stella. We drove through the night at some serious speeds as well.
PS. mine is for sale.
