Some insurance advice

I could not get a 2005 5.7 insured without a Tracker and Thatcham approved Cat 1 immobiliser.

Even Vauxhall insurance would not cover it.

When I complained to Vauxhall that they were selling an uninsurable car they upgraded the immobiliser free of charge.

It can't be long before Vauxhall have to do this for all customers - just demand it.

If you also look in previous topics insurance appears quite a few times with quotes less than £600.

Slightly related, but when I insured my new (at the time) 328ci bmw import, they asked it's value - i said 28k , they said "needs a tracker at that value", i asked at what value do you need a tracker, they said 28k+, so i said put the value down as £27995 - no tracker required and insured.

I don't think any of this made any difference to the requirement for Tracker and Thatcham Cat 1

i have insured a new bmw 330 and a new monaro vxr, both valued over 35k as new and i did not need a tracker.
getting what i think is a great price with only a few years no claims (no years with the bmw), both premiums were under 1k pa.

From experience only a few companies insist on a Tracker. I generally ring about 20-30 to get the best quotes and ignore the ones that are unreasonable. Thats how my CV8 only cost £316 this year without a tracker!!! however I know their quote computer was playing up but to their credit they honoured it !!
