This forum needs a search engine
Discussion
To add something to the original topic, might I suggest Google as another search method.
Using the 'site:' tag you can restrict your searching to a particular site.
Usage: [search criteria] site:[website]
e.g:
"wortec site:www.hsv.org.uk"
Obviously the PH search engine would be better for recent posts (i.e. <48hrs)
Petrol Ted, you might want to investigate the power of XMLHttpRequest when implementing your search engine on affiliated sites such as this.
Would it be possible to automatically limit the searching to the forum associated with the site the user is browsing? In other words, if you implemented a search box on this site (for example), when the user hits search I'd expect it only to search the HSV/Monaro threads. Drop-Down options to allow the user access to the current search limiters such as date etc would be useful. Thanks.

I've just got the cheap Pirelli P6000's on mine and a Bridgestone spare so nowhere near as good as the one's stated so far.
I know Raggyman rates Toyo tyres quite highly. Can't remember the model's he has fitted tho
If you're after tyre recommendations an LS1 thread relating to a test of 235/45/17s & 18s in "Wheels Magazine" issue (June,2002):
[quote]Basically the Michelin Preceda, Bridgestone Potenza S-03 and Toyo T1-S came out on top, the Yokahama A539, Dunlop FM901 and Goodyear GSD 3 were ok, and Pirelli P7 (and Silverstone FTZ) scored quite badly. Unfortunately no Falken was tested, but I would expect them in the “ok” category.[/quote]

I'm sure tyre technology has moved on from this review.
I doubt that these Semi-Slicks will be of use to you given you drive your car daily, but for those who might be interested:
* Toyo offer the RA1
* Yokohama has a large range of SS tyres, the most popular being the Advan A032R & A048
* Bridgestone's latest offering is the RE55
* Dunlop offer the D01J
* Pirelli offer the P-Zero Corsa
If I were you, I'd give this Tyre Decision Tool a try. It asks a few questions about where the car will be driven and how it will be driven then suggests tyre choices. [Hint]Select Pontiac GTO 2004 as your car[/Hint]

Hope it's of some use to you mate.
