Just out of interest how many of you have had cars remapped by Luis Sola? Interested to know how his mapping compares to Wortec. Looking for objective views as I’m wondering why people rate one over the other.

He has remote tuned my Monaro after I slipped a slightly choppy cam in it. As I have EFI Live I just set up the log parameters as he wanted, did some logs, sent them to him with some notes, and he'd send me another tune.

I haven't had a Wortec map to compare so wouldn't be able to offer much in that respect.

My impressions were that he very easily / quickly got the car into a nicely tuned state in terms of driveability, which ringram will tell us is the hardest part of course.

He's also happy to do any ongoing tweaks should something come up etc.

I have seen a wortec map from a friend's VXR with a magic cam in, I'm no expert but the spark timing seemed a bit exciting to say the least, but they had a lot of happy customers so a competitor saying they're crap I take at face value and am not going to make any further assumptions really.

Personally I will go back to Luis because of the willingness to sort driveability out over time, realistically making dyno power at WOT isn't that complicated and ultimately the numbers aren't that important when you're actually driving smile

Thanks. Mine has a bespoke Wortec map and I don’t have any complaints. Cold start, idle, cruising, WOT all feels spot on.

I hear about extraordinary dyno numbers from cars tuned by Luis and wonder what he does differently.

MWP have a couple of LSA VXR8s pushing out 850hp advertised on their web site and question the viability of such claims with nothing more than a cam swap.

From most of the posts online, he seems to do a great job.

Although compared to UK tuners who try with the OEM ecu...it probably isnt too difficult to improve things.

He does live, remote dyno mapping on standard ECU cars too. Sure he knows his stuff.

He definitely does and I have had a couple of conversations with him reference a remap, just haven't got around to it.

Mwp know there stuff and if you need to know more I would recommend speaking with them, have seen some of the things they are doing at meets very impressive.

Luis has remapped around 70 + cars that were tuned by other so called leading tuners in this country .I have had two engine blow ups due to poor tuning both engines used to misfire under load .had the latest engine work done by Carl Herkes LS PERFORMANCE (find them on face book) then tuned by Luis Sola running 806 fwhp my car now pulls like a train and runs sweet as can be no hesitation . would recommend these boys to any one .

Interesting. Must admit, even when magic Mark mapped my car I’ve never had a problem with poor running. Misfires sounds more like plug leads than tune.

Luis has mapped my car and gearbox, both are night and day compared to the previous remap.

My advice would be to send him some logs, he’ll be more than happy to look at them and share his thoughts...

Given the spec of your car, I’d be very surprised if you didn’t see a significant improvement in both peak power and delivery if you choose to go ahead with his work.

Thanks. Do you know who he partners with in this country other than Carl and MWP?

Yes, don’t know. Sends a shiver up my spine to think about him.

Shocking that a company like DD would get involved with someone so lacking, for wont of a better description.

I got mine done via Carl, but he’s equally happy to speak to people directly.

Got in touch with Carl and he seems like a nice chap. He uses EFI live and mine's been tuned with HPT, he'd also prefer to map it from scratch rather than tweak the current map, that's a pretty big step and to be fair to Wortec, there's nothing wrong with the way the car drives now. Especially as Paul originally spent a week with it on the road and dyno to get it right. I need to have a word with myself, stop messing with it and just drive it otherwise, I'm going to break a perfectly good car.

Can I ask Wormus since you had chiller fitted is this the reason for the re map?

Also having the chiller fitted can you report on difference.

If I could do mine over again I wouldn't go supercharged I would do cam with headers.

To much heat with a valley charger this time of year, and I have always had to be careful on how hard I drive mine in the summer.

The map has been checked and adjusted by Wortec to take the chiller into account and whist I haven’t got the car back yet, reports are it’s taken about 20 degrees out of the IATs. More importantly however, it should deliver the same power regardless of weather as it no longer relies on the front mounted heat exchanger to keep things cool. I’m told it’s no longer taking timing out or suffering from heat soak, which on a hot day would translate to a loss of around 100hp. I’ll do some proper testing when it comes back.

One of those cars belongs to me, and the list of mods is £13k longer than just a cam swap wink tuned by Luis Sola by the way too smile

Would love to hear your spec please share very impressive, as a Monaro owner would love the LSA in mine.
