Hi there.
Anyone know where I can get a reliable wiring diagram for my 06 cv8. I don’t know much about mechanic talk but apparently I’ve got two knock sensors away which is a rare problem.

My alternator stopped doing it’s alternator type work. Got that reconditioned that lasted a fortnight then it was lockdown. Then it seemed like the company that got the Mitsubishi parts for the Bosch alternator wasn’t ever gonnie open again. So I tried a new place F*%KIn usless. So bought a kind of Paton part. Hard to fit but done the job kept the battery sweet but Ro was runnin like a peace of crap. Nothing but bad luck with this car since I last spent about a million pounds on it and prob only managed about 500 miles (if that ) over my last 2 M.O.T’s. I need help from the monaro gods coz I’m not ready to let this baby go. It’s not even done 50.000 yet. :.((

Can't help with a wiring diagram, but can I suggest that you just take it to a decent garage and get them to sort it?
They are simple brutes really and so your problems should be very fixable.
If you want to try a more specialist garage, depending on where you are there is MWP, Walkinshaws, Neil Johnsons, Topcats Racing, and AAS.
Just let someone else sort it whilst you've still got some love for the car!

I hear what your saying but this guy is good and helped me out a lot so far. I live just south of Glasgow and hardly anyone knows what a monaro is up here. Nearly every mechanic can fix anything but as Soon as the parts don’t show up on euro car parts or dingbro websites they lose interest fast lol.

I can't help with a wiring diagram, but I think the alternator needs to be checked again. I would also check the ballast resistor and battery. You might want to check for any fault codes or check engine lights that may point you in the right direction. Don't forget to check your earth leads.

For someone to suggest "you have two knock sensors away", sounds a bit mental.

Unless something is getting lost in translation between there and here. But I'd love to hear their reasoning behind that !

The guy already told me it’s a lottery odds chance but he can’t find another reason. He’s if there’s a chance it’s the weirdest unlucky outcome then it’s gonnie happen to me lol. Thought it was maybe to do with the fact that I fitted the to start with so he was working his way through all the wires and it all seemed fine. Not to mention the fact I had an alternator reconditioned that only done it’s job for two weeks the gave up the ghost again.
Then I found a place in London through a parts finder website that only sells starters and alternators that sold me a brand new part for £250 including postage. The thing was identical but had a kind of cheapness about it. I’m wondering if this fancy looking cheap thing is causing a problem. If I don’t get any news this week I’ll prob give the guy in Glenrothes a bell see what he thinks.

Hi,
This might be of use to you. It's a zip file containing all my v2/vz wiring diagrams. All in pdf format.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EPsfyxLW7SSxNJ1eQ...

You'll need a google account to download them all, but that shouldn't be a problem. If it is I can always find somewhere else to upload them to.

Mr Nosiris, why don't you start from the beginning by explaining the issues you currently have?
That way, someone might be able to guide you better. smile

If you need a decent EPC you can try

https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/epc/pontiac/2v1...

or

http://www.elcats.ru/gm/pontiac/default.aspx
If you open this second one in Chrome, it can translate it from Russan for you to.

Both have good exploded parts diagrams, which you may need, but hopefully not.

TBH more background on "Nothing but bad luck with this car since I last spent about a million pounds on it " would go a long way to having us all help with whatever issue this turns out to be.

Anyway, hope this is a help.

Thanks a lot for all the help it’s appreciated.

I haven’t herd anything back from the mechanic since I let him see the wiring diagrams that maccavvy sent me thumbup

If he doesn’t get anywhere I’ll get a look and these other links.

after fitting a new alternator and getting the correct volt reading at the battery. Took it out a run and just seemed to have no power when pulling away. Started up fine and sounds perfect but a big lack in power.

Everything was fine after I fitted the reconditioned alternator but that failed again two weeks later. I thought maybe the reconditioned alternator when it failed had caused a problem ( not a mechanic so I don’t know if that’s even possible ) or could the new alternator be causing a prob somewhere.

I never even herd of a knock sensor before this problem so just need to wait and see but I’ll keep posting when I get a result and clear this up biggrin
