Had my monaro in for first mot in my ownership today, all good except we found the tyre valves had perished, so failed mot, popped down to nearest tyre supplier to get all 5 swapped Inc spare, as I showed lad what was needed I touched a front valve and it shot off over my shoulder instantly deflating tyre.
Definitely worth checking!
Retest - all good smile

I always have new valves fitted with new tyres.
if the tyres are that old id be checking those for cracking too

Tyres are ok, checked them during mot. The valves had small signs of perishing near base, but when I flexed one to tyre shop it just snapped off, deflating instantly. Thank god it did it there and not earlier when driving to mot.

Curiously one of my rear tyre valves has also perished, not something I've encountered before. As the car is in bits currently I just have some tape around it to keep the air in for when I drove it in to the garage hehe
