Hiya GSE, I've just come back from a month in Melbourne & Tassie.. If you can, take the Monaro around the GREAT OCEAN ROAD, lots of great twists and turns and scenery, even saw 2 whales. a Monaro+ Great ocean road= amazing combination ( i think, i did it in 1 day in a mini bus)
I wanted to go to HSV/Holden but there wasnt enough time.. I knew someone that went around the HSV factory who I could have gone with.. Oh well, theres always next time!

Try The Gold Coast,QLD. Then anywhere coastal, north from Brisbane right up to Cape Trib past Cairns,where the Great Barrier Reef is. Noosa Heads is superb, The Whitsundays is outrageous.
If you're down Melbourne way, HSV do a nice little tour round the workshops.
