So my air conditioning pipe that runs from the bulkhead to the radiator has split (arrowed in photo) and I now have no AC. Any ideas please where I can source another pipe? It’s for an 04 CV8 Monaro.

I’d say it’d be easier and probably cheaper to remove the old one and use it as a template for a new copper one.

Assuming copper brake line pipe is a suitable alternative?

Don't know where in the country you are but there is a mega place at Redditch that can fab up their own pipes for obsolete/rare cars. From friend/family experiences I'm sure they have even been cheaper than sourcing OEM ones as well.

As above, a decent air con specialist will easily make something up to repair that.

Thanks for the replies. I had a new Mishimoto radiator radiator fitted recently, and if possible I’d rather take the rad out once more to remove the old pipe and fit a new replacement - rather than remove and wait for a new one to be made up if possible?!

Failing that if an oem isn’t available then I won’t have much choice. I just thought I’d first test the water so to speak to see if any are available anywhere off the shelf still!

You may be lucky and find an OEM one, but I don't believe these have been available for a while now.
I did see this on Facebook a few days ago, I know it's at the other end of the pipe, but the problem is the same. might help if you can get one in the UK?

I literally just ripped this pipe out of the car last week whilst doing an AC “delete”. Pipe was perfect until I realised to take it out intact the rad had to be removed. Figured I’d never use it so snipped it to get it out! Sorry eek

Most air con pipes are of a standard size, it's a bh that it's split so close to the fitting though as these things can be spliced. In my case I've spliced other bits of pipe and found that the splayed ends can be salvaged from other cars in scrapyards.

If outtadrally has the end you're looking for, a splice can easily be done to your good pipe running vertcally and the corresponding un split corner and fitting on his.

Failing that, do what I did and find a volvo or Mitsubishi in a scrapyard and take what you need,

Not the same area, but you get the idea.

A little awkward spot for a compression joint type repair, but might be doable.

Or if it can be removed, some sort of solder/braze repair would be an option. or of course having it welded back up.

brake pipe is not suitable, far too small diameter.

Think I still have the remains of the pipe thrown at the back of the shed. Will look tomorrow. It should still have connectors on if needed.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Sod’s law I think it’s broken near the union with the radiator.
