Quite right Richard. I believe this one was brought into the country by Tom Walkinshaw when he ran HSV or was it HRT..whatever. It ws his own transport and probably is the only Grange in the UK.

Confirmed,

This car was imported by GIV (Rod Clausen) for Tom Walkinshaws use.

So is the only official import of a Grange into the Country.

I remember checking out a Grange that Rod had imported, there was a small feature on it in Autocar circa. 2000. 99% certain that it was a dark green not black as this one is.
Anyone else remember this car? I think Rod struggled to sell it.

Tom,
your right, the car Rod had imported for Tom Walkinshaw was Dark Green...

As Rod can't remember the build number, it would be difficult to confirm that this one is the correct one (i.e. the one owned by Tom Walkinshaw)....(registration doc?)

It is a bit strange that this one is Black (I've just looked at the advert!)

Rod did not say anything about importing a second Grange so I wonder if it is a re-spray or if it is another import.

Cheers

I think the black car is one that maybe TWR shipped in themselves. The green Grange may have ended up at TWR, but I don't think Rod intended it to. I'm sure he was trying to sell it. Think I remember it for sale in Autocar.
Either that or it has been sprayed black. Reckon Paul or Mark at LSV might know.

Does anyone know about this black car then? I do remember Rod telling me that TWR used an HSV to collect clients from airports etc. I think it might have been this Grange.

Yes, this is the ex-TWR Grange. Tom kept it for when he had too many passengers for his Ferrari.

By the way, we got an angry phonecall from Walkinshaw at the time we were building the supercharger conversions for HSV-UK. One of Rod's customers had blown Walkinshaw away on the motorway whilst he was ferrying a VIP from Heathrow.

He was not happy we were tampering with 'his' cars! He did calm down and after a couple of weeks shipped us his Arrows Racing Holdens. Pity it all went bust before he paid for the work.

Yes mate it was,

Paul Duncan & I saw this car at the MEL (ex TWR ARROWS) complex. The car is pictured outside the building in langley Oxfordshire.

It was brought over for Tom Walkinshaw. It was also used alot to drive poeple around Silverstone before they went out in the Arrows 2 seater F1 car. I can't remember the Arrows driver at the time, but he would take them around the track.

Lovely car !

Regards,
Rob.

The Green one was intended for Tom Walkinshaw.

See extract from Rod's memoirs below....(i.e. e-mail to me on history of GIV...that I've still to edit and pass onto Paul for the site....someday i'll get it done)

"There were 6 VX GTS cars and 2 VX GTS-R's both black as well as 1 HSV Grange (green) for Tom Walkinshaw which I think went back to Aus when Tom got poor like us!"

Perhaps the Green one did go back to Oz....but I don't know about the Black one. I'll ask next time I chinwag with Rod.

I seen in May when he was over and he promised to post all the tests etc. that where performed by various magazines.

I'll pitch in there and egg him on...

Cheers

I am sure I have seen a Grange and a VT II SS in an old copy of Top gear or EVO magazine. Both were UK cars.

The "green" Grange was defo. featured in a mag. c.2000/01. I thought is was Autocar but could easily have been Evo, as I only regularly read these two.

I could well be wrong but I'm sure I saw a black Grange heading north on the M40, last Sunday. Kinda spooky really as I had just started reading this thread last Sunday before I headed down south for work.
