Brake pads

I may need some new pads for the front for the GTS-R soon, what are the benfits of getting green stuff pads over the normal ones ? will the disk wear out noticbly quicker ?

Where sells green stuff and standard pads ?

i have got red stuff pads, green stuff arent suited to big heavy cars like ours.

Hi I would go for red stuff I have them all the way round. Green stuff has a resin that they put on the disk when they are hot not too good. EBC recommends Red Stuff for our cars. I get mine from Powerstop, www.powerstop.co.uk they are very helpful and deliver the next day. I think the cost was £170 for a full set. The red stuff pads also have the advantage of producing less dust. Just make sure that you tell them you have the premium breaks or they will send you the wrong one's. I have some part numbers if you are interested.

Very interested in this topic guys. Does fitting these pads eliminate the brake fade problems without doing the full AP Racing upgrade??.

Does it chew through the standard discs really quickly??.

Would it work on the 6.0 VXR also??

The GTS-R has 4 Pot Harrop brakes so you are starting with a very good set up, the red stuff pads get the best out of these brakes in my opionion. The brakes on the 6.0L VXR could benefit from different pads, but you may then find yourself driving harder and getting to the edge of the up rated pad quite quickly. I drive all types of Monaro’s and HSV's the ones with 4 pot or 6 pot set-ups inspire a lot more braking confidence than the one’s with less capable set ups.

I have Ferodo DS2500 on my AP calipers, a bit dusty...but as I have mentioned before elsewhere I would rather pay for pads than the rather large amount for new discs! Anyway wheel cleaning spray is a lot cheaper too!

Ferodo DP3000 are the daddies BTW. Totally totally unbeatable. They'll wear out quick though.

Small contribution, I am no expert on this.

Ferrodo DS2500 as recommended by Motomk are recommended by collegaues down under, as are Pagid.

I spoke with EBC and they said stay well clear of green stuff. Red stuff arer correct for road cars. I went for red stuff ceramic andand v happy. Only time I notice less performance is after washing thecar including close attention to washing the wheels / dics.

ahem yes to a degree, if you change the pads and upgrade the fluid it seems to help significantly.

Certainly on a recent trip to the 'German Mountains' in the Nurburg region the brakes were fine with the changed pads, although the standard rears were smoking.

You dont need to do the rears the fronts are fine

Am trying to buy some EBC red stuff pads (ceramic)after the comments on here for my 6.0 VXR but they dont list it. THey have a Holden GTO, is this the same thing?/are these the right Pads??

£147.99 for front and rears deliver inc VAT from Powerstop.co.uk. Seems to good to be true!!.

Anyone else tried them out???

Try BG Developments--01527 873716, ask for Caroline and give her details of your pads and she will come up spot on.With pads I mean.Ferodo DS2500 are excellent.

I'll also second the Ferodo's.

Both TS2000 series (Ferodo Formula) and DS2500's used here.
Very good performance, a bit dusty, but very kind to discs.
