VXR8 oil cooler

Long story short, my R8 oil pump failed a while back and I’m convinced it was down to overheating. The engine is a PWP 525hp LS3 with less than 4k miles, used sparingly by the previous owner but it failed on me after a few hours of spirited driving from West Wales to Doncaster so it was quite warm. I’ve changed the pump and the engine is now sounding in rude health BUT I don’t want a repeat performance so am looking at fitting an oil cooler……..

I’ve done some digging but can’t find a conclusive answer as to
A: whether I’ve just been unlucky and it doesn’t really need one, or
B: what setup will work best for day-to-day use

If anyone has any advice it would be gratefully received

What exactly failed ? Seems very unusual.

I'd be surprised if high oil temps caused the problem, what sort of temps were you seeing and what oil are you using ?
