Done one?
Who with and where?

How did the car perform?

I rather fancy it'd be great fun but the brakes would get a bit hot & bothered maybe?

OOOOO.. Snetterton, just had a look and you could be on to something there. there is a TD on the 24th Oct.

Details:
www.motorsportvision.co.uk/snetterton/trackdays/trackdays.asp?circuit=sn&type=Car

Layout looks good and would paly to the old girls strengths.. long flat, fast not too technical so brakes and tyres wont get killed....

Also, not to expensive compared to some circuits i've been to (200 quid plus.. eeek!)....

On top of that Snett is somewhere I've yet to drive so it would be good try somewhere new....

If a few sign up we could maybe get a "mate rate" for bulk booking???

Whaddya say?

Hmmm, 24 Oct might be a bit soon for me to have a decent number of miles on the old gal mate.
I'll probably only have maybe 1500 up by then.
Would also like to get the Wortec stuff on it before hand.

Was thinking more like some time next spring-ish sort of thing.

Let me give it some thought...what do others think?
I wouldn't want to compromise the engine for the sake of a thousand or so miles & an oil change.

Last track day I did was at Castle Combe. The car was as I expected & very good considering that it has the standard HSV suspension.
Have to admit though that I much prefer lighter cars for track use.
The comments on Snetterton are very valid, as the brake & tyre wear can be massive on a track unsuited to powerful & heavy cars. At Combe, I wore out 1/2 the front pads & ruined the n/s tyres.
Of course if I was a smoother (better) driver, the wear would be less, but even so be prepared for an expensive day if you do a lot of laps.
Not sure how the standard Monaro brakes will cope either, guess you would need a harder pad at least.
Don't wish to appear negative, as you will have great fun.

Boing...

Seriously considering this..

Not going for a trash everything day just some spirited driving where it's *resonably* safe. I want to see what itll react like when pushed about a bit. am not into "my time is faster than yours" as i've been there and done that- its very hollow. But I cant push the car *hard* along on the public road due to the absolute need to retain my clean licence at all costs...

Anybody up for it??

I could well be. Agree Snet will suit the car really well and I should have mine back from Green's by then with upgrades done and tested.

Think a few turning up together will cause a massive stir with the trackday regular's.

Oh now look, that isn't fair...I now have Mrs N saying "I could buy that track day for your birthday" and I'm doing the miles faster than I expected too.

Anyone know what the availability of the day is at the mo'?

Still spaces in all groups at mo.

There is one on the Saturday before it a Bedford Autodrome as well. Great benefit there is no barriers etc so can really push the car without fear of damaging it.

Def gonna do a few trackdays once car sorted out and if can meet a few other members in the process that would be cool.

Bedford huh?

Will reserve judgement 'till i get a detailed look at the track layout (its been whaile since i was there and that was on a "balls out" GXSR...

If memory serves there are up to four diff layout that can be used, which one for the 21st?

Will have a look later, (and check me mails- sorry nige. must send you me mobby no thats the best way through to me)...

Could be good, Bedford is closer to me than Snett, but only if it suits the car.....

I'll look and get back..

Mark me up for one place though i suspect i'll go anyway...

Bedford is pretty good. Nothing but traffic cones to hit!!

I think on track days they join the various circuits together into one big one. They certainly have done in the past.

Anyone know if there are noise issues at Bedford?
Something is nagging at me that there is.

I dont think there will much of a noise issue matey, still have standard system onboard. However, they could be worth a call to confirm, i'll try to do that 2moro. WLYK.....
Shall we book this "everyman for himself"? or maybe go for a block book?

the blurb off the site:

Bedford Autodrome Dual Circuit Day
@ £ 189.00
Bedford Autodrome
Saturday 22 October 2005

Never before in the UK has there been a chance to tackle 2 different circuits in one day at one venue. Until now..

Bedford’s West and SEN circuits will be open on the day giving you the opportunity to develop your various track skills. The West circuit offers long straights and multiple high speed corners. The SEN circuit combines fast straights with demanding corners and two hairpins to test your precision driving.

Open pit lane throughout the day means that you will have all the track time you can handle.

Bedford also offers a huge safety advantage over other circuits. There are no barriers just huge run offs which allow you to test your cars potential without the risk of damaging your pride and joy. Well... maybe your pride a little bit. This key feature means that this circuit is perfect for all levels of driving ability, from the track virgin through to track addict.

Right then, I'm in for that too.

I'll be booking tomorrow and will be in the slow group if there's a choice...mainly 'cos although I've done loads of bike track days I've never done a car one.

Now then, what does one wear, lid, overalls etc?

There is a noise limit but plenty of loud stuff passed ok when I went. Need a lid and anyone in the car has to have their arms covered but normal shirts etc ok for that, just not bare.

Novice, Inter and fast groups just like a bike day as far as I can tell. What bike you got?

Group booking then or everyone for himself and just confirm on here who has signed up?
