Hi all,
I need help !!!
I'm trying to sell My 2004 Monaro VXR 5.7 in Red Hot with only 2900 miles on the clock,
The price started at £28,000 its now down to £24,495 ono,and so far nothing not one phone call !!!
Last week I put the car on ebay it made £19,405 before
being removed tonight with just hours to go because I had put BMW M3 M5 AUDI TVR in the title !!!
Its still on autotrader web site and pistonheads,
I am at my wits end,
All I can say is when the time comes to sell your Monaro's I hope you have better luck than me,

Now where did I put those Matches?

Id have left it on there with your "reserve" in place you would have had no worries about selling it under the reserve. You will find that right at the last minute people bid. I saw it there and thought that it would have gone for well more than £20K a black CV8 did over 20K a few days beforehand.

Id put it on with a sensible reserve and let it ride you may be surprised.

Andy - you really have to get realistic with the prices, check autotrader - Vauxhall are selling NEW 2005 reg Monaros for £23,494 which makes your highest ebay offer look good !

My 2004 Monaro with a full LSV Stage 2 & Wortec tune went for £21200 and that had low miles. However ebay is your best bet for advertising, only 6 quid for 10 days means fantastic coverage, better than the trader plus no dodgy scam callers.

Good luck with the sale mate

I am amazed that you withdrew it from sale, you should have left it with the reserve in place.

I have sold 2 cars on ebay in the last year (plus mine was the black monaro which sold for just under £21k last week, within 7 days of advertising it). You find normally that the price shoots up in the last hour and you have a few people bidding on it!!

Pay the extra as a featured item, start it at a sensible price like £15k and suggest anybody seriously interested should come see and talk during the auction.

Try it on ebay again, or put an ad in top marques asking £23.5k and you should sell it.

Stick at it. You have a VXR/HSV sell the benefits of that part of the badge, rather than the Monaro part. Most uneducated wouldnt know the difference between std car and HSV/VXR and therefore why to pay a difference. Explain to them.

I know am a retailer, but sold a red VXR yesterday, 04 plate with 6k for £27995(in red). There are buyers.

Add the build plate number, security benefits and heritage of the HSV/VXR brand.

Hope it helps

Sorry mate did not see the words VXR, however this lot all missed the fact that your auction was pulled by ebay for misleading advertising...

Simple answer, bang it on again, stick a sensible reserve on and see what happens, the right buyer will get in touch eventually.

The list for 05 5.7's is still a smidge under £30,000 and last time I checked (admitedly with Underwoods in Colchester) they were quoting a 2 month wait - that has probably changed now.

You can get 04 cars on a new plate for £24000 which is what I paid for mine about a month ago, Greens are advertising them as such.
In fact on Autotrader I think it's my car in their advert - Brian, you owe me royalties

Slaters at Colwyn bay have a 2004 VXR in red on the pitch for £27000. (done around 20K mileage i think?)

And they have unregistered 04 spec CV8s for £25K! and they are selling reasonably well at that price apparently!

I wonder why the high turnover of monaro's at such a low mileage.

I am going to throw some of the photos up that I took on Sunday to sell mine.. but then again, don't think that people will actually see the car.

you can buy an unregisted 04 CV8 for about £23K or an unregistered o5 for 24.5k if you know where to look.

Interesting that it appears that the unregistered 04 CV8's aren't selling that quickly.

I noticed that Slaters had all 04 CV8's and no 05 models. There was only one Silver 05 CV8 there when I bought mine (yellow 05) a few weeks back. Was that one still there Mike?

Thanks everyone for your help and advice,
Will put the Monaro back on ebay at the weekend and see what happens,
I have been told by someone at ebay that a member reported my auction for the Monaro, so they had to remove it and next time I will be struck off for good!,
I did have over 3400 hits and 78 poeple watching so it worked in away,
Bet they were trying to sell there BMW M3 and didn't get any bids for it !!

Thanks again
